Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I know a lot of us come to DK to ask questions about problems we are having with our doodles. Instead of that, here is a brag report on how our Peri is maturing into the perfect Lady at 8 months:

1. Lady P now sleeps all night on her fancy bed instead of the crate. This is a new breakthrough because she has refused to leave her crate at night and if she came out of it, she wandered around too much. On Saturday, she slept until 9 am on her bed - I woke up to her laying on her back, all 4 paws in the air, tongue hanging out :)

2. We do not have to take turns watching her while getting ready - she plays contently by herself and does not destroy anything. We used to get up so early, with DH having the first hour shift while I got ready for work, then it was my turn. Eyes had to be on her at all times. Not anymore!

3. I brought her to the office Friday afternoon and showed my coworkers her training tricks. One of my coworkers has champion show dogs who are very well trained. She was shocked at how obedient Peri was! That made me so proud.

4. No accidents in 3 months - don't even worry about that anymore.

5. We can leave her out of her crate for a few hours while we are gone - no destruction so far!

6. DH and I love her so much we cannot imagine life without her. Her kisses make us smile :) and she has the quirkiest, smartest personality. Just perfect for us.

In summary, the only complaint I have is that she has destroyed all of her toys in the past month. Only the zogoflex ones or tennis balls or antlers are intact. BUT at least she has destroyed HER toys and not ours :) I can live with that. No more plush animals for Peri.

Happy Holidays to all!

No more plush animals for Bear either! Bear is no seven and a half months old but up to 40 lbs. We too are seeing him mature into an obedient social dog. Wow...I thought I would miss him being a little puppy, but this is great. Has Peri gotten her adult hair in yet? Bear has not and I absolutely love his hair right now, hoping it won't change too much.

sounds like all the stuff I have gone through with Kramer! He is blowing his puppy coat (just turned 9 months) and is shedding like mad but the matting is driving me crazy. No way I can get them all out, so he will have to be cut short after Christmas. He is past the accident stage, can be left alone safely for a few hours in the house alone, and destroys ALL of his toys! At 53 lbs now I wish he would stop jumping on people...it's really getting annoying for everyone. I am looking forward to having a calmer dog.... he has really calmed down alot but he is not quite there yet.

kudos to Peri! What a great feeling. I can totally relate. Duncan will be a year old this month and every day he shows more and more self control. He still will steal a sock if given the opportunity and now that the winter is here he's getting his first look at my gloves. Yeah....he's scheming and plotting a way to swipe them. And then there's the bread that the old man leaves out for the birds daily (and today was jelly donut pieces) that he just can't resist when we go for a walk. But it gives us hope. Yay again for Lady Peri! And I agree with Nancy....she deserves some new toys for Xmas.

I think it's very important to hear good things about our doodles' behavior! It gives people who are struggling with puppy craziness hope, and makes all of us feel good! Yay for "bragging on doodles" and for Lady Peri!!

I know it is a silly brag piece...but we all discuss problems a lot on here and sometimes it is nice to say some good things instead of asking for advice!
Thanks to all for the comments.
And of course she is still a crazy dood and is not perfect :)

Aww, I love your bragging on Lady Peri...I knew she was a special girl when I saw her at Teri's, such a tiny little thing then! I know what you mean, I can't imagine life without my snickerdoodles!

AWWW! So glad Peri is being such a little Lady :) I have two shredders of toys on my hands too so indestructable is not a word that applies in my house, but the best toys I've ever found are these tuffy stuffed toys that you can get on VIPproducts.com. They have a tough scale rating from 1-10 and the one I had was a 5 and it took them months to finally tear it up. They're a little more expensive, but last lots longer and my babies love them! I bet Lady Peri would too! I think Santa should bring her one or two!

Christmas is coming and Peri wants NEW TOYS. Please tell Santa that she has been a very good girl.

People often focus on the negative in their lives or dogs or...It's really nice sometimes to focus on what's going right sometimes.
