Please welcome our new Doodle Son - Stuart***UPDATE

UPDATE  Exciting news and some of you have a good eye because this was part of a message that I got today.

DOB:  7 week old- Golden Doodle Pups - 4/5/11 - ((Sophie --the Mother  - AKC Golden Retriever  & Henry -  AKC  Reg.  Standard Poodle ))  Note:  Henry looked like a doodle due to his lack of poodle hair cut.

SO STUART'S DADDY IS FULL POODLE WHICH = more doodle!!!!   LMAO!!!!  We loved him already when we thought he might not be too doodley but of course this is very good news.  So now what is he?  Not a reverse F1b.  Is he an F1?  I get him tomorrow at 10:00 - for now I am pooped from driving 10 hours.  I need and deserve a glass of wine.  And now I know his birthdate!  This just so darn wonderful!!!

I just received the nicest email that said that they "saved" Stills for us!!!!  They just thought that if I was willing to drop everything and drive 10-11 hours tomorrow that he was meant to be ours!!!!  If we had gotten Crosby or Nash we were going to leave his name as is but I simply do not care to call our puppy Stills and had always thought that Rooney's brother would be named Stuart.  So here is Stuart Cunningham.  Thank you each and everyone for all your kind thoughts and encouragement.  Doodle Kisses means that world to me and I am going to need you all more than ever now!  I'll post pictures when I have him in hand!  I'm just crying with JOY this feels so right!!!!!!!!!!!!  Get ready Rooney - life is about to change!

Jane...Sasha is 75 lbs. and my sons dog is 20lbs.

Sasha just loves her...and playing with her is one of Sasha's favorite things to do!

There has Never been a time when Sasha has been rough with Sweet Pea...or hurt her in Any way.

She will play bow to get on her level...and is surprisingly gentle with her!

The only challange we had when they were younger was that Sasha wanted to play more than Sweet Pea wanted to.  Sasha is a year younger.

We were always there to monitor them at play...and the older dog would let the younger one know if they "wanted space". (we got this advice from our trainer)

Like Bonnie said...they work it out...and learn to respect one another's space.

I do think a lot has to do with the temperment of the Doodles...and I'm certain that you will be able to work through any challanges that might come up.

Enjoy this wonderful time with your boys!

Jane, They will work it out. Vern is 90 pounds and Fudge is 46 and their best friend is my DD's 27 pound French Bulldog. I have never seen any rolling with the Frenchie, but Vern and Fudge are a little intimidated by Bonzai. I would say Bonzai tells them what to do. Meanwhile, Fudge and Vern take turns when they play. If I think it looks rough, I distract and we move on.

Jane, We had a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with two large Goldens and then with Kona too our 90 pound doodle. None of them rolled him. I think when the dogs are raised together it just works differently. I understand how you are worried about little Rooney, the current love of your life, but they will work it out. Rooney should always be treated as the alpha dog. He gets privileges first. The puppy will learn to respect that. Try not to worry and just enjoy.

You are going to have a Guinness and Murphy situation and that seems to work out just fine.  I think it is really going to be all about the training with Stuart.  If they are a little unruly at 21 lbs it really isn't too big a deal but at 70+ lbs it can be a big problem.  You could teach Stuart to pull the puppy hauler!   I think the best part is going to be if you thought you couldn't go out in public without drawing attention with Rooney, wait till you step out with both of them.  They will be stunning individually, but together it is going to be adorable!  Not too long to wait now.  Can't wait for more pics.

Hey guys - those with large F1s, how is this size thing going to work?  Will Stuart grow up with little 21 pds of Rooney around and at some point realize himself that Rooney can't be used a a toy?  Will Rooney who is as sweet and gentle of an animal that I have ever seen learn to "tell" Stuart if he gets too rough?  Rooney used to play with Lucy a PWD who was large and we had to stop seeing her - they'd be playing chase and she roll Rooney like a linebacker.  I was afraid he'd get hurt.  Lucy is about to meet the great "equalizer"  ha ha.  Stuart will be able to hold his own!   Any advise?

This adventure of yours just keeps getting more and more exciting.  I'll be thinking about you tomorrow morning (I'll be up early enough to account for the time zone difference)!  :)

Jane, He reminds me a little of Vern too, who is now 90 pounds. Rooney is going to need a saddle :)
