We recently realized a huge coincidence that I thought I would share. I can't decide if it's more horrible, or hilarious. I'll let you decide.... :-)

At our old apartment complex, we had a very, very annoying dog living nearby. The culprit?

That's right, a Jack Russel Terrier. Some people love the feisty, fearless attitudes of terriers (I'm not really one of them...) and this dog had absolutely, NO fear. Every time we so much as tiptoed 20 feet away from his apartment, it would set off a loud, barking alarm that lasted over 30 minutes. I'm still trying to figure out how his owners deal with the annoyance. Perhaps he barked so much they are now deaf.... ha ha. Anyways, it was just a constant barrage of barking, ALL THE TIME, and I hated it. When we moved to our new apartment, I was quite happy to leave this behind.

HA! The first night at our apartment, it was around 3:00 am, and we were jerked awake by a horrible, loud, barking. It lasted at least 15 minutes, and by the time it was over, we were of course, completely awake. We were saddened to know that we hadn't escaped the annoying barking.

Fast forward to 3 days later, and I'm baking a cake in my kitchen. I hear that horrible bark again, so I looked out the window to view the culprit. IT WAS THE SAME JACK RUSSELL FROM OUR OLD APARTMENT. Not joking. The same owners were sitting on their porch, feet up on a coffee table, reading the newspaper. Seemingly oblivious to the fact that their dog was barking like a madman. They must have moved in the same 3 days we did, right across from us. They are now even closer than they used to be. How ironic is that? We just can't get away from him! <sigh>

No! I'm dying - what are the odds? It's amazing how the owners can become immune to it. I have a friend whose Jack Russell/Chihuahua mix barks CONSTANTLY and she doesn't even hear it any more. Meanwhile I feel like I'm having a mild panic attack the entire time I'm with that dog.

Haha, I do feel sorry for you but it is still a funny story when you don't suffer from it.

My sister has a Jack Russell and I know exactly what you mean (as does she). She bought one of the little blue box sound "zappers" that was discussed on here earlier this week and it worked like a charm. She has had it for years and all she has to do now is say "you want zapped" or show her the zapper and it works great. Maybe you could tell them about it. I can't believe that management at either apt complex hasn't addressed the issue.

I would ask them to work with him... but I feel so bad. I know it is kind of a breed trait... but they must realize that it's not okay for apartment living! What to do?

Hope you didn't sign a long lease!!!

For us the " No Speak " command works--well a lot of the time. Spud likes to bark.

In their mailbox place a nice letter telling them this great technique of teaching a dog to speak--so you can teach him not to speak.

I laughed when I read this but I know it really is not funny. Lately, I have had my own neighbor troubles and it is NOT fun.

Hey, the house next door to me is vacant. MOVE IN. That would be fun

Oh dear, if this wasn't sad it would be funny. I guess you could try to talk to the neighbors.

I am so sorry!! Barking is as annoying as nails on a blackboard!
Have you spoken to this family about the barking?
Good Luck!!!!
