When I was at the vet's a couple of weeks ago, she noticed his adult canines were coming in beside his baby teeth. She said we'd check it on the next visit to see if the baby teeth came out. Well they didn't come out and his gums are all swollen. This is causing his adult teeth to come in crooked. So, they must be pulled and while he's under, he's getting neutered. He's just 5 months so I feel kinda bad but she said it has to be done ASAP so he goes in on Tuesday morning.

He's now just over 41 lbs. Everyone seems to think he will be bigger than Yankee (65lbs) but at 4 months he was 28lbs which would put him around the same size.

I hope my baby isn't in too much pain after both procedures.

I am the youngest child in my family. My baby book is just a calendar that just says "gums lanced" "gums lanced" "gums lanced" because my baby teeth didn't want to come in and my gums were swollen. I guess it was the popular thing to do a million years ago. Almost the same problem as poor Finn. Interestingly enough all of my children were late getting teeth and losing baby teeth. We just waited it out and all was fine.

Will be praying for you all...Finn will do fine with the surgery, Hannah had eyes and spayed at the same time and it took her a few days to bounce back, but she did good, and in the long run was much better for her.

Linda, does the vet do the neutering with a lazer {sp?} or with regular cutting?...I used a different vet from my own,( got great refernces from several friends that use them because they used this instead of regular cutting, and met with the vet myself personally{ Ollie had no outside sutures, only inside, and the incision was much smaller...He was fine the next day, and although I had a terrible problem with my other dog years ago with reg. neutering procedure, this was a breeze...It cost a little more, but was worth it...I know that there are two schools of thought on this, but I was very satisfied with this procedure...As far as tooth removal, Finn will be fine, mine had that done, not Ollie, my other dog, and he had no problem after eating or anything...Let us know how everything goes...OOps, forgot, Ollie did not need one of those collars after either, he never went after the glued incision area...

Abby was double fanged for a while remember (her adult fangs and puppy fangs were sharing the same space. At 6 months old the puppy fangs finally fell out. She has amazing teeth now.

Spud also had a few baby teeth that would not come out. They eventually did, but later than expected. It did not cause the problems we were told it might. We did give him chews to work on loosing those teeth. Sometimes there is a plaque build up the keeps those teeth from loosing at the gum.

Poor Finn, but I'm sure he'll feel much better after getting those teeth out. And maybe it'll keep him from biting at his neuter stitches! I'll be thinking of you and wishing you and Finn the best!

Charlie got her baby tooth pulled while she was under, too. This was because her baby tooth was not coming out, while the adult tooth was already there, causing the food to be trapped in between the both teeth. She recover well from both, the tooth part did not seem to bother her at all. It did not cause her not eat or eat funny or anything like that. We will be praying for Finn's quick recovery!!
