Puppy Class Graduate!!

So proud of our little Sammy! He is now officially a puppy class graduate. We will even send off for the AKC STAR Puppy training medal because I know my 7 year old will like it. I am really proud of my son too. Class has been on Friday nights and I know some times he would rather have stayed home to play with friends but he never complained and he is really quite a shy kid but he clearly and loudly will call his dog in front of a group of people. He does really well with Sammy. We will definitely continue with classes though... we will be moving to the "Junior" level classes which will have older dogs. Should be interesting.

Guess that is all for now! Should get some new pics to upload... too lazy right now.

Congrats on passing the puppy class to you and Sammy!! your son will like the medal. My Wakefield passed the puppy class a couple of months ago, but we are having a little trouble with the CGC/therapy dog test. He does all the steps but sit with someone for three minutes while I go around the corner and out of site (it's just me and the dogs at home, so he's so used to being with me and not alone with anyone else - he loves people and he's great at meeting them and getting petted, but wants to have me there at his side too). But, now that the weather's nicer we've been practing outside and he's up to staying alone (with his leash attached to a post to re-create being on a held leash during the test) for right at two minutes without whining or trying to stretch the leash out! A little more practice and we should have our CGC and Therapy dog . Then it's off to the nursing homes!

So who else has there kids doing handling in puppy or obedience classes?? Anyone doing 4-H with their doodles? Are trainer works with 4-H also but
I haven't really asked her much about it...she just mentioned that my son Quinn would be good at it and he is old enough to participate.
