Rafi (aka Porkchop) and Rio--together again!

Rafi, one of the puppies from Lyric's first litter born Jan 1, 2011 who was affectionately called "Porkchop" has come for a visit! he had not been here in 6 months and remembered all the dogs, toys and poopie spots in the yard immediately! Smart poochie! He has learned to do a "high five" with his paw for a cookie in just two days--my three doods do that every time they get a treat. He is a really good boy who listens well and is very cooperative. 

He and Rio play really well together and momma Lyric loves to join in--she is ten pounds heavier and a few inches taller than they are though, so I have to watch her that she doesn't get too dominant.

Rafi's lovely shaggy coat is being groomed (by me) while he is here--so you may notice that in a few pictures his rear end is shorter than the front--I am doing him in stages--tomorrow the head and front legs will get done!

Here is Rafi before his haircut just hanging out--look at that tail!

Here he is with his mom--what a resemblance! Rafi is stockier and shorter like his dad, though. Rio is with him in the second photo--Rio looks more like dad in coloring, but has his mom's leggy build. In this photo, Rafi's tail and hind end have been cut about 2 inches shorter!

Rio--being the macho man that he is--growled a bit when he first encountered Rafi--after all, Rafi came in and immediately went to al the toys! But it only took a few minutes and they were back to wrestling and playing. Rafi tends to be happy as second banana which works well with Rio. Rafi also likes to be chased and they race around in circles in the yard--that is because I only have an electric fence, so Rafi is on a flexi-lead and will just keep going around me in a circle while Rio races behind him!

It sounds like such a great reunion. I remember when my husband and I took Melody up to visit the breeder and to pick out her new brother.  We got Melody when she was almost 6 months old so she had been with the breeder, Cindy,  for awhile before we ever met her.  She was so excited to see Cindy and the other dogs that belong to her.  It was such a fun day.  I think it is wonderful to be able to reconnect and have these visits with Porkchop.
