Riley and Skype

Since my middle daughter is now working in Singapore and my sister is in Vancouver Skype has become very important to me and enables me to have long chats with both of them.   When Sophie is talking Riley goes crazy, he checks the computer and goes around the back of it to look for her as he knows her voice.  I don't think he can see her very clearly on the screen but he certainly knows her voice and it is so very cute to watch him cocking his head and listening intently while she tells him how much she misses him and how much she loves him.  My sister Andrea's Labradoodle Koby was my inspiration for getting Riley and he and I are well acquainted.  When I go to visit he always sleeps on my bed and is such a sweet lovable doodle.  Today when we Skyped we introduced the cousins to each other, so there was Koby and there was Riley each close to the webcam looking at each other....so near and yet so far.  I get quite nostalgic and emotional when I know just how far away we are from each other but am so happy that we can see each other and that the two Doodle cousins finally met.

Nicky, I know how hard it is to live so far away from a daughter. We have never Skyped, but maybe we should give it a go. It seems to be a very nice way for you to stay in touch with your sister, daughter, and your Doodle nephew. Riley sounds like he likes it, too.

I guess modern technology does have it's advantages. I'm glad you get to "visit" with your loved ones who are so far away. And i'd love to see riley looking for your DD behind the monitor!

LOL!  I loved this - dh and I skype when he is in NYC or China but my boys HATE it.  They won't go near the computer even though they can hear his voice - they find the screen - scary!  Good for Riley!!!

What a wonderful thing for you to be able to speak "face to face" with your daughter and sister! Skype is such a gift. I'm glad Riley met his cousin... too cute.
