Riley and Skype

Since my middle daughter is now working in Singapore and my sister is in Vancouver Skype has become very important to me and enables me to have long chats with both of them.   When Sophie is talking Riley goes crazy, he checks the computer and goes around the back of it to look for her as he knows her voice.  I don't think he can see her very clearly on the screen but he certainly knows her voice and it is so very cute to watch him cocking his head and listening intently while she tells him how much she misses him and how much she loves him.  My sister Andrea's Labradoodle Koby was my inspiration for getting Riley and he and I are well acquainted.  When I go to visit he always sleeps on my bed and is such a sweet lovable doodle.  Today when we Skyped we introduced the cousins to each other, so there was Koby and there was Riley each close to the webcam looking at each other....so near and yet so far.  I get quite nostalgic and emotional when I know just how far away we are from each other but am so happy that we can see each other and that the two Doodle cousins finally met.

Today's technology just blows me away! Skyping is so cool as there's nothing like a face-to-face conversation!  How fun for y'all!

I lived in the United Kingdom for a few years in the 90's and I so wish we would have had things like this when we were there.  We had to depend on plain on snail mail and million dollar phone calls.

Yes, my sister was in the Peace Corps for a stint and we were able to talk when she would visit a bigger city.  Amazing!  We still do it from time-to-time even though she is only in Texas. Skype is a wonderful thing!

aww I wish I had known your sister  was in Vancouver and had a doodle - i lived there til 6 months ago. tell her to check out the vancouver doodle meetup group if she hasnt already, and that Tisol is the best place to shop for doggy stuff!

Cooper has to say hi to my mum in the UK and my sister and little niece in Australia!

Oh Nicky this is so cute. TG for Skype!   It isn't the same as "being there" but it's so much better than the expensive long distance phone calls and "Air Mails" of long ago!
