There is a yearly two-day adoption event at Rancho Mirage, California in which we have traditionally had excellent results in finding adoptions for rescue dogs. In fact, since we know that this event is so successful for our adoption efforts that we accept a larger number of dogs as fosters than we can normally handle.
Compounding this, one of our members passed away with no one to care for her three dogs and we accepted those dogs also...
It turns out that we had eleven adult foster dogs and four puppies at our home (in addition to our own six dogs). What made this a bit difficult was that we have had our house painted inside and out as well as a kitchen remodel during this period. Our house was like a circus for a couple of weeks.
Judy took seven dogs to Rancho Mirage today and by the end of the day she had five adopted. We have a couple flying in from Minnesota on Monday to pick up Elmer and Elsie and fly them to their new furever home in the snow country. We have measured the dogs and their furever parents are bringing them jackets and boots to wear. We have another lady coming on Wednesday to adopt another of our fosters.
If Judy gets the two dogs she has left in Rancho Mirage adopted tomorrow, we will have only one adult foster, a mom with a young puppy left by midweek. We will also have a litter of three male puppies who are not old enough for adoption yet.
Just make a guess how long it will take us to build up our foster numbers. However, I hope that the number will be slightly less that eleven adults and four puppies...

God bless rescuers!!!!!
Richard, I don't know how you do it, but you certainly have earned your stars for heaven.
I have been calling this the "year of the dog" because we have had so many dogs at our house this year. However, the most we have had at one time is four dogs. You truly amaze me!
Richard, I am truly exhausted just reading this. You and Judy totally amaze me. We just did a kitchen reno and I only had one dog to deal with and that was quite enough. I hope you get a few quiet weeks to rest and recoup.
Wow! You two do amazing work!
This really is your life's work and a labour of love. Kudos to you both.
You are both amazing. That's all I can say!
You and Judy continue to amaze me, Richard. Thanks for all you do to help homeless dogs.
Richard, I can't even imagine how hectic things have been in your house! Home reno's AND a small army of dogs?! Bless you both for your heroic efforts! Enjoy your newly found peace and quiet!
