Sad follow up to my friends Golden Retriever with bloat..

A few weeks back some of you may remember that I had posted about my close friends golden retriever, Holly, that had bloat. They actually thought she had completely recovered. In the last week my friend said Holly had been back to her normal, playful, sweet self, and didn't show any evidence of the trauma she had been through.

I am so sad to say that this morning Holly took a very hard turn for the worse and they had to have her put to sleep to stop her suffering. It all happened so fast and my friends are just so sad, my friends husband was at work at the time and didn't get to say goodbye to her.

Goodbye Miss Holly, you have crossed the Rainbow Bridge and I am sure you are having a wonderful time with all of your new friends. You are the reason I hopelessly fell in love with "golden"doodles.

I am so sorry about Holly. This is a good reminder to be very, very careful about bloat. Best wishes to her family.

Andy & Sharon, Thank you for the articles on bloat. When I had previously posted she had this (because I was so unfamiliar with it) I read the articles you had posted and I took the precautions for Hunter. Its sad that you have to learn from others loss and heartache.

The vet couldn't really tell them what happened to Holly, she said possibly an internal bleed somehwhere from the bloat incident or that her system just wasn't strong enough to recover. Thank you all for your thoughts - I sent them to my friend, she was very appreciative.

Denise, I am so sorry to hear of your friends loss, I can't imagine the heartache. I had never even heard of this issue before this post so thank you for raising awareness. I am keeping a watchful eye on my pups from now on for this.
