This young Maltese cross puppy (we estimate 4-6 months old) was found in a trash dumpster in Orange County Caifornia by a couple who did not have the resources to keep her. Thankfully, they contacted American Maltese Rescue and we stepped in. We named her Annie as in "Little Orphan Annie". As soon as we are sure that she is physically healthy, we will find a "furever" home for her! She is a darling girl who doesn't seem to be carrying any psychological baggage from her hard life...

What kind of person could do something like this?! Thank goodness she was found, and now she's on her way to a much better life, thanks to you!
God bless you for coming to Annie's rescue. She is darling and lucky to have had you come to her rescue. She is so adorable, that I'm certain she will get a wonderful forever home quickly. Keep us posted.
She is just adorable and your wonderful photos really capture that "adorableness."
The amazing thing about this little darling is that; despite the hard life she has been through, she is animated and just adores interacting with people and other dogs. She had some parasites which we cleared up She even had lice around her ears which is a very unusual thing for a dog. However our vet has declared her externally and internally parasite free. It is a joy to see this little darling race joyfully around our house. She needs to put on some weight but, some extra high calorie and high protein meals will take care of that!
She has an appointment with the vet for spaying on Monday. Then as soon as she has recovered from surgery, we will place her on www.petfinder.com and take her to adoption events.
Little orphan Annie will have a wonderful life from now since you have stepped in and saved her. Thanks for all your wonderful rescue work.
Annie.....I see better days ahead for you. Richard kudos to you and your DW!
Once again the Maltese angels have stepped up to the plate. YOu both are awe inspiring.
Why are people so stupid??? I'm so glad that little Annie was found, she is adorable and deserves a second chance!
Thank you for caring for this little one in the way that she so dearly deserves.
Stories like this make my heart hurt. When I think of my Pooh Bear and Doodle Bug being left alone in a dumpster like that it makes me cry. How could they? Thanks for taking care of her and I hope she finds a home really soon. You are an angel.
