I went out for dinner with my family last night and left Duncan home. and when i pulled up my block at 8pm there was a sqaud car in my driveway and 7 fire trucks on the block. I went into complete panic mode.
Luckily my house was fine. It was my neighbor's house that had the fire. Apparently their dishwasher went on fire....and it wasn't even on!!!

The one thing I always know about Duncan is that even though i have a tri-level condo he spends most of his alone time on the first floor right near the front door. So he'd be easily findable by the firemen if my house ever did have a fire. Ugh! I hate to even think of that stuff.

Although I must admit the firemen were quite cute and i don't know who'd get to them first to lick their face, me or Duncan!!!!

Whew! I would have been so frightened and panicked. I am so glad it wasn't your house and that Duncan is OK. Hope your neighbours home and possible pets are OK.

We have the stickers on our doors also. I think I got them at a pet expo. They always pass them out at any sort of events that have vendors and I think I've also gotten some from Petsmart. I agree with Karen though, even though Duncan is normally at the door, you can't count on this in an emergency where he might get scared or spooked. When we lived in Las Vegas we had a toy poodle. There was a Rocket Fuel plant about 2-3 miles from our house that exploded one afternoon. We felt the explosion at work, 18 miles away. We were listening to the news and hearing that doors and windows were blown out for miles around the plant. We were scared to death that our Asti would leave the house if doors or windows were blown out. All the road were closed but we knew we had to find a way to get home. We ended up finding an old dirt road through the dessert to get to the house. As soon as we hit the garage door opener, the garage door immediately collasped. The door from the garage to the kitchen was blown off the hinges. Asti was kept in the kitchen during the day by a 4' high wooden gate across the kitchen door leading to the dining room. She was not in the kitchen. The board of still in place and she wasn't in the garage. We finally found her about 15 mins later, up stairs, underneath the bed. She was either blown over or jumped over the 4' door gate (she was a 12 lb poodle). She was shaking like crazy and just hiding under the bed. So, they do crazy things during strange times, so I would recommend some window/door stickers.

There are decals that you can put on your doors that alert firemen that there are pets in your home, in the event there would be a fire or some other emergency. They have a place to mark the number of pets and whether they are cats or dogs. I don't even remember where I got mine, maybe from the fire department. Sometimes in a really scary situation, even dogs who usually stay by the door might hide.
Glad everything turned out okay.

I'm so glad that everything was ok! I worry about Timbow too, but he also stays close to the front door. How funny about the firemen!!!

You must have been scared to death when you saw all those fire trucks. I always worry about that too when I leave Guinness home alone, but he also stays right near the front door. Well, at least the fireman were cute and it wasn't your house.
