Sheila the pipsqueak is coming into her own. My DH takes her out at 6:30 an then she will stay in the crate until 7:15. Then it's a quick out and the day begins. She is growing fast, especially her legs!! She is still a picky eater. No stomach problems, just not all that interested in dog food. I try to mix cheese, yogurt, dry, wet Innova dog food, but some days she eats right away, some days just not interested. I usually train w/ real chicken or salmon later in AM, which she loves. But I'm worried she is not getting all her nutrients. Of course DH says she willleat when she is hungry, but since she is underweight I don't feel good "holding out" on her. Gosh, my labs would eat anything, anytime, anywhere. Should I throw in some canned green beans, too? Am I promoting pickiness? What is a mother to do? I've even resorted to hand feeding her, which she likes sometimes. Some days she likes cheese, the next day not. What is going on w/ my doodle?

I need to keep my camera in my purse!! Our contractor took a pic w/ his phone. Maybe he could send it. She had sticky, thick green masking tape on her paws chest and mouth today! Hilarious and she didn't care one bit that they were on her. I had to pick it all off. I'm letting her smell everything so when we move in it won't be such a shock. Oh, she got a couple bites out of rug pad, too, she is so quick.

Then off to buy MORE doggie paraphnalia-elevated car seat, a couple new toys, leashes, harnass ( she strains the leash when tethered to me sometimes and I,m afraid she'll hurt her little neck). She got intro'd to neighbor kids today and was scared of them at first, then ventured over when we all sat on the floor and had some fun.

Then I play in the yard w/ her and she zooms around. It's so cute. This is when I wish she had a sis or brother to really play hard. And brushing? Do your doods hold still for this? Sheila uses it as an excuse to mouth the brush, jump in her grooming box, and I usually just kind of work around her, rubbing belly to get her to settle. I'm too afraid to try nails, she is just too wiggly.

I have been using the crate, like now, a little bit. Mostly for me, but today at new house I finally put my coat in the bay window in kitchen and she nestled right in. She could see me at all times, but by now she is impervious to saws, hammers, men, generators. Kind of cool.

Here she is at 14 wks.

She is sooo cute! I happen to have a 14 week doodle puppy right now...and Luna looks almost exactly like your Sheila. That's such a cute name too. Mine was horrible to brush for over two months, just about 3 days ago she finally quit throwing a fit when brushed. She still rolls around on the floor and bites at the brush, but she doesn't try to run away anymore. I don't have to pin her down any longer. And I trimmed Luna's nails for the first time last night with no problems.
She is adorable for sure.

I love little puppies...they look like scruff muffins! My Gracie is a very large baby but she can look like a scruff muffin when I haven't brushed her!!!

She is so cute - as for food, she will eat when she is hungry - you keep putting all the "treats" on it and she will wait for it! She may not like the flavor of Innova....mine didn't. Come join us in the Food Group and ask away! :)

DeeDee, she's so beautiful! You're right she does have long legs! Are you sure she has enough toys to play with????LOL I didn't realize you were building a new house while raising a puppy....you do have your hands full. Guinness was also a very picky eater. In addition to the poopy problems, he never did find a kibble he liked. I was always afraid he was going to starve to death. Now he's decided that he loves Murphy's puppy food. The same food he would never eat before. He inhales his home cooked meal and then heads for Murphy's dish. That's when I go into referee mode. I wouldn't worry too much, she'll eat what she needs. I would continue to add the "goodies" to the kibble though. That should help. Guinness didn't hold still for grooming at this age either. I would do it a little at a time, and then give him a good treat. After a while he knew that a treat would be coming if he sat quietly. Now he's great. Don't worry, it just takes a little time. I never did get up enough nerve to do the nails though. It sounds like you're having fun...I'm so happy for you.
