Sheila the pipsqueak is coming into her own. My DH takes her out at 6:30 an then she will stay in the crate until 7:15. Then it's a quick out and the day begins. She is growing fast, especially her legs!! She is still a picky eater. No stomach problems, just not all that interested in dog food. I try to mix cheese, yogurt, dry, wet Innova dog food, but some days she eats right away, some days just not interested. I usually train w/ real chicken or salmon later in AM, which she loves. But I'm worried she is not getting all her nutrients. Of course DH says she willleat when she is hungry, but since she is underweight I don't feel good "holding out" on her. Gosh, my labs would eat anything, anytime, anywhere. Should I throw in some canned green beans, too? Am I promoting pickiness? What is a mother to do? I've even resorted to hand feeding her, which she likes sometimes. Some days she likes cheese, the next day not. What is going on w/ my doodle?
I need to keep my camera in my purse!! Our contractor took a pic w/ his phone. Maybe he could send it. She had sticky, thick green masking tape on her paws chest and mouth today! Hilarious and she didn't care one bit that they were on her. I had to pick it all off. I'm letting her smell everything so when we move in it won't be such a shock. Oh, she got a couple bites out of rug pad, too, she is so quick.
Then off to buy MORE doggie paraphnalia-elevated car seat, a couple new toys, leashes, harnass ( she strains the leash when tethered to me sometimes and I,m afraid she'll hurt her little neck). She got intro'd to neighbor kids today and was scared of them at first, then ventured over when we all sat on the floor and had some fun.
Then I play in the yard w/ her and she zooms around. It's so cute. This is when I wish she had a sis or brother to really play hard. And brushing? Do your doods hold still for this? Sheila uses it as an excuse to mouth the brush, jump in her grooming box, and I usually just kind of work around her, rubbing belly to get her to settle. I'm too afraid to try nails, she is just too wiggly.
I have been using the crate, like now, a little bit. Mostly for me, but today at new house I finally put my coat in the bay window in kitchen and she nestled right in. She could see me at all times, but by now she is impervious to saws, hammers, men, generators. Kind of cool.
Here she is at 14 wks.
