Shelby Doodle.... exploring a new career choice!

Hi Doods,

My mom likes to joke that I could be an exterminator because... well, I LOVE to eat bugs! Although, there is one bug that I don't like much... it has a pincher on it, so I leave those alone.

The past couple of weeks.... I've learned that I have skills in a new area, one that may be unusual for doodles, but I am not so sure. It's interior decorating. Specifically, I like to work in the Master bathroom (which is where I like to sleep each night). My mom has done a nice job, the colors are very soothing.... she wants it spa like - there are candles, shells and lots of pretty glass (all of which I can't reach). I've been trying to communicate that I think some changes need to be made.... so each night, I put my touches on it. But then, in the morning -Mom puts it back the way she likes.

I say let the doodles decide.....

So doods.... let me know your thoughts - do you like my decorating talents? Do any of you decorate in your homes? I just think this is so much more....abstract, fun, creative and inspiring. If you haven't tried decorating, you should, it's fun.... especially late at night while your humans are sleeping. Mine always smiles and laughs a bit in the morning when she see "my work".

Good job, but you forgot to pull the toilet paper out in streamers. It adds a nice touch, I think, plus it is fun. And Shelby, forgive me but you could easily give those candles a more interesting texture. Another fun room to redecorate is the bedroom. Pillows can be rearranged and bedspreads dragged partway off to show off the bed linens and how nicely you have needed them up. You are showing great natural talent, hope my pointers help. Shelby, do you need a partner for your decorating business? I LOVE your work...you have this decorating thing "nailed", buddy. I'm not as good at it as you yet. I haven't figured out how to casually "place" the rugs....Like Aunt Karen said, I just carry them all out of the bathrooms and throw them in a big pile in the hall. I bet your Mom puts them all back in the morning, right? That's my Mom's thing too...she has no taste! Happy redecorating, and give me a call if you want to start a business with me. MURPH

Good job! We, especially Luca, like to toss dog beds around, especially if there's a remote chance a ball may be hiding under one. Also, throw pillows are called that for a reason, no? The floor seems a better place for them . The living room rug is very dull so we've decorated it with regurgitated grass and food, looks and smells better that way. We both love to add pawprints to the decor just about anywhere.

Dear Shelby,
Way to go, Dood! We like your style. My favorite is to burrow into the pillows across the top of the bed - I do this in the day time to help the house look much softer and squishier and friendly. Clancy tries it also but he isn't very good at it. He is much better at just throwing the pillows onto the ground.

Nice job Shelby! I was born with a special decorating talent too but unfortunately my mom didn't nuture my talent and I have lost it. I tried to tell her that those things on the floor were TOO BIG and needed trimmed down. She wouldn't listen though so I just started to do it myself. I guess she likes them big cause she put a fast end to my decorating attempts. Now I do the best I can with my toys. They add a nice touch to every room and mom seems happy with that too!

Shelby, maybe your Mom could get you on HGTV for one of their decorating shows...I think you have great talent. I sleep in my crate at night, but I take the mat that is in it, and turn it everywhich way. Mom put it in there for me to sleep on, it is one of those foam rubber things with a very soft cover one it, but silly Mom, I much preferred the cold hard steel of the cage bottom. So she finally took it out, and leaves it on the floor for me if I want it, but so far, I don't. Like the cool tile much better. I do like to rearrange all the dish towels in the kitchen when Mom isn't looking. I get them and put them all over the house. Of course I have to sort of counter surf to do that, but Mom never leaves any food there for me to get, and I would never do it in front of her anywasy, but she figured out that I had to be doing that to get the towels, so now she tries to remember to put them someplace where I can't get to them. I like to chew holes in them, I think it is artistry at work, Mom thinks it is ruining her stuff...So keep up the good work Shelby, you do have talent...Paws to ya, Oliver
