Today I had a luncheon for about 10 women. My daughter had the dogs corralled in the family room while we were in the kitchen, dining room and living room. The doggie door goes into a space under the stairs and through a "cupboard" door in the kitchen. When the lunch was over and people were helping to clean up, Kona came into the kitchen through the "cupboard door" from outside. He was so shocked to see all of the strangers he barked loudly! I walked in just as he was barking. He was so embarrassed about barking that he started squinting and smiling on one side of his face. Well, those people who have not seen a dog smile were probably thinking he was baring his teeth. I, of course, thought it was the cutest thing I ever saw! I kept telling him how cute he was and what a sweet boy he was and how he didn't need to be embarrassed for barking. I wonder if the guests thought I had lost my mind. I love my big 94 pound doodle, sweetest guy ever. Wish I had a camera there!

My father-in-law's Brittney Spaniel smiles all the time, it is HILARIOUS! So cute :-) It was odd because she only started doing it after she was spayed.

I love it when the smile too. Murph isn't much of a "smiler", but Guinness smiles when he's happy. Gotta love a 94 pound "smilin" Doodle!

I love love love this story....another reason to have that camera on you, I never do of course, it's usually in the other room, upstairs, downstairs, in my purse, never sure where and by the time my DH finds it the moment has passed.

A 94 pound doodle....wow! Vern is 80 pounds and I thought he was huge. Kona, you were just letting them know you were there. I would have loved to see a doodle emerge from a cupboard. I bet it brightened up the luncheon.

This must have been a surprise for your guests, hope they saw the humor in it.

It isn't really a cupboard. Our kitchen has white painted cabinets. On the wall in the area where we have a couch, we had the whole wall covered with the doors that match the kitchen cupboards. Behind two doors is our laundry facility, some of the doors are false because they cover the wall where the staircase is. The last cupboard door goes to the space under the stairs where we have thick carpeting and dog beds. The doggie door from the outside leads into this area just for the dogs. The cupboard door is almost always open, and I forgot to close it when the company came. We have surprised many guests with the disappearing or appearing dog cupboard!

Oh I'm sure they were shocked to see a 94 pound dog come out of the cupboard barking loudly. I didn't have the wherewith all to even look at them, he just was so adorable! haha Maybe I'm a doodle addict. (why, maybe?)
