You know it's weeks like this that make me wonder how Mrs. Noah ever kept the Arc clean with so many animals and so much rain! I just have Angel, and it's only been raining off and on for about a week but constantly for the past three days, yet my house is so NASTY despite my best efforts to keep it clean! Honestly, how did that woman do it?! I've been vaccuuming and steam-mopping daily, and yet my house still smells like wet dog and constantly has paw prints.

I'm about ready to throw in the towel, (Especially since it's not doing much good anyway...), and just wait until the weather changes to try to keep the house nice...And then I remember that it could be worse...we could be flooded.

Seriously, floods are a major concern here; they even closed the schools. Ironic, especially since it's usually drought we have to fear here.

Anyway, aside from cleaning I'm bored and so is Angel. I mean there's only so many times we can train and throw a ball/rope/stuffed animal/sock/treat, etc.

Any suggestions? For amusements and/or cleaning strategies?

We had nothing but rain the whole month of July and ended up with floods at the end of the month. Since it is usually muddy here for most of April, May and June from snow melt and clay soil that doesn't dry out quickly, I had 5 months of mud. I was just about to GO NUTS! Finally, September has been dry and we can mow the yard and run around on the grass again. But I did have a smelly house, mud all over and dirty dogs! I kept towels on the floor and furniture, too and dried off their feet with a towel by the door whenever they came in. It helped a bit but what a pain! Good luck to you--I hope it stops raining soon! One thing that is entertaining is to do a little agility work--put a broom over two chairs and start teaching them to jump!

How obtuse is the weather at the moment? Here in the Pacific North West, we're used to it raining for weeks on end, and this Tuesday a record was broken....25 days in one season that the temperature was in the 90s. We've had maybe 4 to 5 days with rain this summer. But I'm sure we'll have lots of wet doggy days to come during the next few months.

I am so sorry... it's been raining quite a bit here, too, but nothing like GA. When we have rainy weather, I end up giving in and waiting until things dry-up to do a good carpet/wood floor cleaning.
Please be careful and hopefully things will get better soon!

That mid-afternoon monsoon dumped 4" of rain on us. Luckily we have a dry basement and no roof leaks. Hope you have faired well too.

A balance? In GA? Ha! Yes, the drought is definitely over. And now the fates that be decided we needed a mini-monsoon yesterday. Luckily, the rains have stopped today, so things were able to dry out a bit, but not without damage being done first.

So I guess the drought is over down there in Atlanta?! It hardly ever rained during the 2 1/2 years we were living there. It sure would be nice if the weather could strike an even balance. I hope you dry out soon!

Yeah, Paulding was closed today AND tomorrow. I think my school will be alright. It's high on a hill with large trenches around it. It might look like a castle with a moat around it, but I think it'll be ok, regardless. I hope. (It would stink to have to work in a mildewy environment...)

Anyway, that's a good idea with the towels. I don't know why I didn't think of it myself. Shrug. All I know is that Angel's found a new favorite thing: heavy rain. She pounces outside in it, snapping at air and barking at puddles... (Thankfully, she's not rolling in puddles...yet...) She comes in drenched, and after ensuring that she's no longer dripping, I stick a towel in the microwave and then just lay it over her like a blanket. She likes that, I think. She was walking around with it on her, and she looked like a heavy weight boxing champ. lol. Wish I had the wherewithal to get a picture at the time, but I was laughing too hard to think of it. She even did a "wave" with her paw in the air, but it looked like she was throwing a punch. It was too funny.

Anyhoo, hope all is well with all of you. =0)

I saw on TV that Cobb County Schools are closed tomorrow due to flooding. I hope your school is ok. I too have given up on trying to keep the house from smelling like wet dog. Today I put down old beach towels in a path from the backdoor through the kitchen to other rooms in the house. We now look like a patchwork of the 'yellow brick road'. It has helped keep down the muddy paw prints. Though I have to admit that I had to wash my bedsheets everyday last week as the pack came in from the rain and ran straight to my bed to use it like a giant towel. :(

A doggy daycare or play group (inside!). This helps Peri get that energy out. We are in the same boat here in Nashville...won't stop raining. But Lady P was spayed last week so she needs to stay calm anyway....
Good luck!
