Work has been insane the last few weeks...did I say insane...I mean INSANE (&@$^^&%^&$@%^#$%@!!!!!! Because of my crazy schedule, Zoey spent a lot of extra time at Grandma & Grandpa's and with my brother who was out visiting for the week. The good news is that he & Zoey got along famously (mainly because he is the only one she seems to mind LOL). Granted, he told me multiple times what a handful she is, but he also told me what a cool little dog she is. I guess I was stressed out over this for nothing. LOL.
Zoey had her first obedience class last night. Was not sure it was going to happen since a storm was looming all day and of course, it did not start to rain until we were driving to the class. We arrived and got out of the car to a flurry of several other puppies, including a Schnauzerpoo (SO cute). At first Zoey was not sure to make of all these doggies. If you have read previous blogs of mine you will recall that Zoey has basically been quarantined since she came home because she does not have all her vax yet and Parvo is rampant in our community. So needless to say she has not experienced other dogs or lots of people before, so this was all very foreign to her. But she settled in after a few minutes. Luckily the rain held off, so class was on. First on the agenda was teaching us proper leash handling, which she (and I) did pretty well with considering she has not spent a lot of time on a lead. Then we worked on sit & releases and Zoey rocked this. She did really well...still room for improvement, but overall I was pleased that she did not run around barking and biting at the leash and jumping on me. LOL. He then showed us how to teach down properly, but we ran out of time to actually begin working on this, so we have some homework to do. Overall, it went really well, and Zoey was wiped out! I am longing to enroll her in doggie daycare to expend some more of this puppy energy.
We go to the vet on Sunday for our last round of Parvo vax & Rabies shot, then we're in the clear! Hallelujah! It's been LONG 18 weeks! Looking forward to walks and giving her some new experiences. The fun has only just begun!
