We use to have the less expensive baby gates, the kind you have to take down or step over if you wanted to go from one room to another. Then DH tripped over one, fell and broke his shoulder. After most of a Saturday in the emergency room, 2 visits to the orthopedic surgeon and a CT scan those gates have turned out to be more expensive than the original purchase price! We are now in the process of replacing them with the walk through type.

Hmm, maybe DH should have tripped before the Jail slide show.Free Emoticons

Whew! It has been a long 2 weeks since DH broke his shoulder. More x-rays and a CT scan later, 1 surgeon says shoulder replacement surgery; the second opinion from a different surgeon says 'No' to not only shoulder replacement but to any kind of surgery. So DH has six weeks of keeping his left arm in a sling. He has some light physcial therapy that he has to do twice a day while he heals. After six weeks he will start 'not so light' physcial therapy for about six months. We are relieved about no surgery.

Thanks for all the well-wishes for DH. We find out tomorrow if he has to have surgery or not.

I hope your husband is okay! I hate stepping over our baby gate. I have fallen, but thankfully, have not been hurt.

Your poor DH! I hate those flimsy plastic gates too. I loved the real wood ones for my kids that are attached to the wall securely with screws and braces not just pressure. The pressure gates crack the drywall after a while as well. I love the metal gates like you show. They are by far a superior product.

I to have this type of gate in my house. No one got hurt, just wonder why it take use so long. Each bedroom has
one. We tell people we live in a gated house!

When we only had Comiskey...we used the wooden gates...what a pain...always had to adjust them!...So along comes Beemer and with two dogs we decided to go with the same gates you purchased (ours are brown)...easy installation...purchased at Target also...the website has a boatload of different styles....can't beat the baby department...the gates are 30% more at a pet store!

I found these gates at Target in the baby department. They come with 2 side extensions to fit bigger door ways. This one is to our bedroom so not as wide. But we have three more downstair for ktichen, living room and dining room. They are working nicely. We can prop the gate door open with a door stop when the dogs are allowed in (or out) of a room.

I need to invest in three to four of them, livingroom, kitchen, bedroom - hallway and computer room. Two of the four need to be extra wide and not sure if this type will work. Poor Harlow and friends look like they have been sentenced...lol. Hope DH heals quickly...
