Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Pool is done and my doodle grandson is enjoying it immensley, (suspiciously,he's only in one of these pictures).
Murphy loves the water and there has been quite a bit of training going on to keep him out of it unless invited, but we have about a 90% success rate after only 3 weeks.
Bella still is very apprehensive and will go down the first step onto the first ledge which is an 18 inch play pool area, for the doodles grandchildren, but unless we bring her in further she wants no part of it.
I am still trying to download a video of Murphy jumping in and fetching a ball, but not having a lot of luck tonight. I'll keep trying.
It has been a great experience to build this pool and it was completed in 3 weeks and 2 days from the first picture of the digging. and there wasn't one hiccup throughout the whole process. So here is the doodle grandchildrens pool from beginning to end.
First day of digging
Steel installed, shotcrete and tiles and getting grandson's approval.
Then filling with Murphy being the first one in and Bella in her usual position, OUTSIDE of the pool
I have loads more but you get the gist of it and the blog isn't letting me add anymore.
Thanks for all your interest. I am sure my doodles grandchildren will enjoy this for many years to come.

Thank you everyone for the good wishes, We are all enjoying it so much!
Traci, it's not a stupid question at all since it's a really stupid umbrella!!! DH got tired of waiting for me to find the "perfect" umbrella and picked this up at Home Depot. I really suspect he "picked it up" from someones trash pile, but it works for now and we do lounge in the play pool area quite a bit. It is a shelf about 18 inches deep and 6 ft wide and along the one side of the pool. One of the reasons I designed it this way for the grandkids to be able to get in and play until they are good swimmers. It turns out that it is the only place Bella will go into the pool as well.
I also have visions of a lounge chair, a drink and a good book for grandma for that shelf area soon.
Jane, I really am pretty ok with Bella not going in as 1; she sheds more, 2 she matts more when wet, 3 she has so much thicker longer hair that she takes forever to dry. So as long as she just jumps in to get wet in the play pool up to her belly, I'm okay with that. She does play with Murphy when he comes to the shelf, so she seems okay with that.
My DH is convinced that Rua needs a pool. We won't put one in this house, but our next house will have to have one! Your doodles grandchildren are so lucky.
