A great white shark has nothing on Hershey's chomp. And when he finds something he wants there's no letting go. To him, it's a game, to my daughter and the hem of her skirt, it's not. I have barked loudly "NO" with my super mom-dog bark, and he, "grrrrrs" back at me. I have to laugh at his tenacity, talk about a dog with a bone. I told him is stubbornness will come in handy when he's a lawyer.

Tomorrow we will try dropping a can with coins in it, to distract him, if that doesn't work, spraying air from a can of compressed air ( away from him of course) or maybe a spritz from a water bottle.

On June 17th Hershey will begin puppy training classes and it won't be a day too soon. We can use all the training we can get!

I wouldn't trade him for anything. :-D

We used to call Charlie " Sharky". Her snapping was something else back then.
"Puppy Perfect" by Sarah Hodgson said that puppies communicate their needs by nipping( they don't know how to relieve their needs, so they nip), so we need to assess their needs when they are nippy....
This book was very helpful to me when Charile was a ittle puppy.

Just replace the items not to be chewed with his chewing toys. Easier said than done, I know. I remember prying things out of Yankee's mouth.

DH has a heavy terrycloth robe - I bought it whole. Samantha decided that he needed a little ventilation on the back of his legs so she jumped on him, grabbed a bit and didn't let go. It now has an 'L' tear in it about 3" long! I laughed, he didn't but he still wears it! I should have had tags made saying
Made with love by Samantha!

Those shark teeth hurt. Have you tried gently holding his mouth shut and saying no bite....this worked really well for me.

Oh I remember those JAWS and puppy teeth well---the time could not have passed soon enough.
