Okay...I need to write this as my husband and I could not believe it!! And I want to remember this! We were scammed by a Doodle!!!

I had these two plumbers over to fix my 1/2 bath off my laundry room. We only have a half basement (I live in a ranch brick house) and the basement is basically a crawl space. Some fittings were leaking and my husband tried to put a new faucet on the sink in the 1/2 bath and the old metal pipes under the sink basically were rotting away!! I HAD to get the plumber. I waited ALL DAY for them (the campground uses them) and they finally showed up at 3:30 pm. They turned the water off to the whole house, and wanted to fix the pipes in the basement first so we could have water. Ugh, I had plans to go shopping with my daughter but they showed up sooo late! Thanks guys, you just shot my whole day!

Anyway, they were around during dinner time for Samson. He scarfed down his bowl of food even faster than usual! Uh-oh, I thought, I bet he is going to get sick tonight. After the plumbers left, my husband came home...it was 5:15 pm by then. They only fixed the pipes in the basement, and left the pipes under the sink for my husband to finish!!! Can you believe that???? They came, did 1/2 the job, and then, left. Anyway, at least the water was back on, that was a major thing. To have the pipes fixed so we could have water.

As we were relaxing before dinner, my husband usually gives Samson a snack, and they lay on the couch together. My husband asks me..."I think he is going to be sick". I said "why do you think that?" "well, he didn't really want to take the snack from me and he has his mouth 1/2 open and he kinda jerked his head like he was going to throw up". I said, "well, he did eat really fast coz the plumbers were here, let him go and lay down on the slate floor, that way if he throws up, I can clean it up easier". We were petting him and telling him he will be okay. I was quite concerned, I kept looking at his face, into his eyes to see what was going on!! When I had him on the slate floor, I took his head in my hands and said "are you okay Samson?" while petting him...all of sudden, I stick my hand in his mouth, and low and behold........I pull my daughters sock all the way in the back of his mouth, almost swallowed, out of his MOUTH!!

What??? What the heck Samson???? I pull it out and I show my husband and Samson starts jumping around, wagging his tail like "hey, mom and dad....I got YOU!!" LOL, I could not believe it!!! What a little sneaky doodle...here we are thinking he is sick and not feeling good, while all the time he has a sock in his mouth, just waiting for us to find it!!!

I was cracking up!! He has a "thing" for socks, I do know that! My daughter is home right now from Temple and has had him in her bedroom a few times...I told her, don't leave anything on the floor, like change, or bobby pins, or paper, or SOCKS!!

Anyway, it gave us quite a chuckle all night!! Samson must be thinking "what a couple of maroons!! I can trick them into thinking I'm sick, and I can get hugs and kisses all night!!"

So glad your boy did not swollow that! Once, a way long time ago, we had an old aunt babysitting us and I remember her pulling a stocking little bit by little bit from our dog's mouth! I'm glad our boy sticks with towels! They have great "chase"' potential!

Wow, I am glad I caught it! I would not want to end up taking him to the vet and have to have surgery!

I'm glad you wre able to get it out of his mouth. Winston has eaten, actual swallowed three socks. The one that would not pass was a 1,700 dollar surgery. I try very hard to make sure that socks are not part of Winston's diet.

I'm so glad he didn't eat it! My parent's shih tzu ate one of my 4 year old cousin's socks and actually did pass it a week later. So gross, but happy he was ok. :)

I think they usually pass them, but I do have a friend whose puppy got a sock stuck in his intestinal track and needed to have surgery to remove it. My vet was telling me that she finds all kinds of strange things in their intestines when she is doing surgery. I'm so glad it didn't come to anything like this for you.

I have actually read somewhere that they typically pass the socks on through.....but glad you caught it before that! Silly dood!!!

Gaston does this constantly! Thankfully they are the socks of a 10 year old boy and not too large but I swear he thinks they are potato chips! One is never enough! Typically he'll swallow one and then during the night give me the look "my tummy hurts" and up it comes in a single chuck and all is well with the world once again. Yuck! Silly doodles

I know...I was thinking that Jane, if he did swallow it, what would happen?? My cousins lab swallows two socks, the next day, he threw them both up in one piece each. They just could not go down, but she had no idea he swallowed them. I'm sure Samson could have swallowed this sock, it wasn't very big. Do they have a gag reflex? I would not have known he swallowed it if he did.
