Grendel, my daughter’s dog, spends about half his time with us. During this last visit, Gren has asserted his domination over Trav and has enjoyed charging or giving a few big barks and sending Trav scurrying for his ‘safety’ spots. Trav can hide behind a table in the living room or in his crate and Gren won’t follow him into either of these safe places. If Gren chooses to lie down in a doorway, Trav is scared to try to get past him, and makes little whining noises til somebody comes and escorts him into the next room.
But...Trav can turn the tables outside in the yard! He’s figured out that he’s faster and more agile than Gren, and Big Dog can’t catch him if he dodges around the maple tree. So he teases Gren by assuming the play pose or putting a paw on his back or running with a toy, and when Gren chases him he just ducks and dodges and has a marvelous time. Trav checks to make sure the door to the yard is open before he teases Gren, but if the door is open, he’ll do everything he can to get a good chase going. It’s been hilarious to watch this development!

Way to go, Traveler!! I love how he only teases Grendel if the door to the yard is open :)
Traveler, great job outsmarting the "big dog", buddy! Enjoy yourself!
I was feeling sorry for Trav, spending so much time standing behind the table or in his crate. Now, with this new game, they're both getting lots of exercise and it seems to be fun for both of them. They've really been chasing hard this morning, and both of them are sacked out on the floor, exhausted. Wooo hoooo!
Love it! Trav...you're soooo cute given BigDog a run for his money!
Na-na-na-na-na-nah! Go Trav Go!
It is so fun to watch them play and tease, just like brothers and sisters really. Good photos. Thanks
Smart doodle!
Yay for the doodle. I like that he's made it a fair fight : )
Nina, they are smart, and you have a couple or three outsmarting each other...must be fun:)
Jennifer, it really was a cute reversal of fortune. LOL
Ricki, oh, yeah! I still giggle about the "Yorkie."
