Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

First of all, thank you so much for all of the support on our last post regarding our accident. It brought me to tears to see all the support, and had my DH amazed at the outpouring of prayers, etc for us. You all truly have helped us through this.

Bentley had his surgery on Wednesday morning. The surgeon called us afterwards and told us the surgery went perfect and Bentley was just waking up from the anesthesia..and kinda funny- Bentley was wagging his tail before he even woke up.

I worked at the hospital 2p-10p that night, so we went to visit him at 10:45 pm..he was pretty gorked out..and whined alot...but I think he was mostly mad about the ecollar they had on him as he couldnt get close enough to me..rather than being in tons of pain.

He came home yesterday afternoon..and his hip has been pretty stiff, but we've been working witth it. It's much looser already today and he's his normal happy go lucky self..bounding all over the place. The hardest part is preventing him from running and playing...so we're relying heavily on bully sticks and other stationary toys.

He will get his 26 staples out in 3 weeks, and have a repeat xray in 6. No stairs the whole time (hard as we have 3 floors in our home)

Total Cost:
Emergency Vet: 350
Surgery/Hospitalization: 2450
Car holster/new bed/bully stick/additional spoiling from petsmart: 100

lesson learned-harness your dogs in the car...not only is it expensive if an accident should occur, it's so emotionally draining as our doods are a part of our families.

will try to get pictures up soon..here is a link to a pic on my facebook album

I am so glad that Bentley's surgery went well and he is on the mend. That was an emotionally and financially expensive lesson to learn.
