While in Florida this past February we had many wonderful days on the beach.  The best part of our vacation was tthat the beach was wonderfully dog friendly. and it seemed almost everyone there had a dog!   Everyday was a wonderful adventure with new people and dogs to meet!   Banjo was in heaven!   Happy Dog = Happy Dog Parents!

One afternoon towards the end of our stay Banjo and I were walking the beach and encountered a woman with her young son and - get this - a nine day old baby lamb!   It's not everyday you see a family and their lamb on the beach....at first I thought it was just an odd looking dog.   I asked if we could stop and say hello to which she replied "yes".   Banjo never blinked an eye....he gave this little guy a couple of sniffs,, I allowed him more leash and he and the lamb started prancing about with each other.  Once I was sure Banjo wasn't going to be too rough or crazy I let him off leash.   It was the cutest thing I've ever seen...the two of them romping around together.   The little lamb was quite fast and Banjo really seemed to enjoy chasing him.   Of course.....I DIDN'T have my camera!!!!   ARGH!    I must have lugged that camera up and down the beach nearly everyday...but not this day!

The woman explained that she'd come down to take Easter Photos, she took many pics of the two of them and said she'd email me pics.    Neither of us had paper and pencil,  she said she thought she'd remember my email.   It seems her memory is about as good as mine.   I  would have loved to see these pics and share!

The lamb was just darling.  She said he was house broken.  When he has to "go" he goes to the door and lays down.

He's a "house" lamb and sleeps on her sons bed...LOL.    I have no experience with lambs and had no idea people kept them inside as pets but this little guy was so cute I can understand why you'd want to.

There are sheep - thousands of them - at Ft. Ord every spring and unfortunately some of them get killed every year by dogs.  Some dogs are escaped from Toro housing area nearby and some are running with bikers out on the trails.  Two so far this year - one from the housing area and one running with a biker.  They, of course, have shephards and their dogs with them, but there are so many that they can't watch them all.

Little lambs are darling but unfortunately they grow into sheep.

This is an amazing story! At first I was amazed that there were dog friendly beaches (northern CA is not dog-friendly). When I read that you met a lamb... now that was really amazing. But the final moment of amazement was reading that Banjo and the lamb played. I cannot stand how stinking cute that must have been! If that lady ever sends you the photos please post!!!

Oh, I would have loved to have seen photos of Banjo playing with a baby lamb! That must have been the cutest thing ever!

I don't think I'd want one in the house, though, especially after he grows up.

What a wonderful experience for you too bad about the camera that would have added so much to your trip photos.

I just can't believe that a lamb would make a good house pet but one never knows.

I have a neighbor who's little girl always referred to Daisy as a lamb..., the little girl was two. So adorable.

Incredible discovery on the beach! That would have made a great video! I hope that lamb doesn't get too big!!

How disappointing that there are no pictures of this crazy event!  It sounds really funny!  I'm glad you had a great vacation!  Do sheep shed?  Are they hypoallergenic?  Just sayin...

Donna, duh to me! Yes, now why didn't Carol think of that. LOL. Yeh, sheep get big. Who wants that in the house? Are they weaned by nine days? This lamb is probably bottle fed by the family. Interesting, to say the least.

They certainly potty train fast.  Who knew?   Baaa Baa at the door seems reasonable.

What happens when this lamb becomes a big sheep? An indoor sheep seems a bit much. How funny.
