Well he's got the big stick down..(not always a soft walker :) )
So Chester is a complete stick hound. Our walks usually consist of Chester ditch diving for a stick err TREE.. to carry.
Ok so it is an unstructured walk- I know that some of you are tut tutting.. This I am sure adds to the whole not great loose leash walking and is probably against the rules of an enjoyable walk. And I am probably a bad doodle mom..But he enjoys it.
Not every walk is a stick mission. We do have business walks.
When the snow falls the fallen trees get buried- He will be more distracted by the snow. The City cleaned out the ditches in our suburban neighbourhood last summer by having all the trees in the ditches cut down- so there are tonnes of dead trees in the ditches. It is a stick dogs world.
We opted out of a Christmas tree as he is such a stick fiend- (not the only reason- a bit of an environmental decision too).
We don't have a good pen to fence it off -the set up of our living room - we couldn't close it off to him.
I was so amazed to see him figure out how to loosen a tree that was buried in one end. He knew to work it out by tugging closer to the buried end. Low and behold he wrangled it out! it was a long 5 ' thin tree.
He is so proud when he gets a stick. He starts prancing home with his head held high. Any Dogs or cars that pass.. he shakes the stick at them..as if to say. Look at me and MY BIG STICK.
So my front yard is now littered with conquests. Well there will be lots of kindling for my chimenea.

Good catch Chester!!!
One day this summer Bruin came charging onto the deck with a huge stick in his mouth and tried to run into the house with it, but the stick was a little too wide to get through the doorway and he threw himself back a bit - it was hilarious! Chester is a cutie!
