Tara and I have been practicing the rollover trick for the past few weeks. We are learning tricks from the "101 Dog Tricks" book and this one seemed pretty basic and easy. We started by learning the roll part which got her flat on her side. She caught on to that fairly quickly but then we got stuck at that point. The little legs just didn't want to go over. The last few days I have been manually flipping her legs over to complete the roll. Yesterday it all clicked and she has been rollin' rollin' rollin' ever since!! Hooray!!! :>)

Yay.... Shelby loves the roll over.... offers it up when I am trying to teach her something new and she gets frustrated.... she will plop down and roll over in hopes of receiving the treat!

Wow, Ron! It sounds like you are describing 2 spins and then a roll from a standing position?? That is an awesome trick!! Way to go Zack!

Great job Tera. Zack will only roll over in the standing position. He first does two 360 degree turns before he goes down.

Thanks guys! We are feeling pretty frisky about our new trick. I think the delay in her learning it was due more to the trainer than the trainee! Tara is my first dog to do the rollover and she is the smallest. Maybe size is a factor. You don't see many big dogs rolling- maybe they just don't WANT to and well who is going to MAKE them?! As for a video...well, I HAVE the technology but I don't know how to use it. I need a teenager!

Baxter learned Roll Over very quickly. I manually turned him over as I said Roll Over. He caught on quick. It is amazing how quickly they learn.

I tried to teach that one to Guinness, and he "sort of" did it. I wouldn't even attempt it with Murph. Congratulations Tara....you smart Doodle girl!

Congratulations! I find "Roll over" to be one of the hardest tricks to teach a dog; only one of mine has ever really gotten it, and it wasn't the big clutz I have now! Maybe you can post a video for us!
