We lost an old friend and gained a new friend today...

We had to euthanize Holly's best friend and our darling cat today. We had him for twelve years and he was wonderful. He came down with mass-cell cancer and his life was no longer happy because his hair was falling out in clumps and he couldn't hold down his food - even a prescription diet.

However we found a new friend, a rescue Maltese, whom we are fostering for the American Maltese Rescue. The poor girl was covered with fleas and ticks and had burrs all over. She was found wandering the streets of Riverside CA. The vet has determined that she is pregnant with two puppies.

She looks terrible but, she is not the first rescue we have fostered. Judy has cleaned her up and we will provide a safe and loving place for her to have her puppies and when the puppies are weaned, we will find a loving "forever" home for the mom.

We will keep the puppies (we shudder to think what cross breeds they might be) socialize hem and find loving homes for them also. I am placing a picture of this sweet mom to-be in her dirty condition. I will place some more pictures after she has received the CROW TLC.

Perhaps someone out in Doodlekisses land might be interested in a small sweet dog after she has and weans her puppies.

So sorry to hear about your kitty. That is such a tough decision to make. Bless you for fostering the Maltese, however. Keep us posted on how she is doing. The pitter patter of little feet in your house will be fun!

FORTUITOUS TIMING...
It is 11:00 AM and Sweetie has just delivered two apparently healthy puppies, a boy and a girl, into a clean and loving environment. Judy picked her up half-way between Riverside and our home where she had been transported by a member or the American Maltese Rescue. She arrived at our house about 6:00 PM.
Judy worked well into the evening cleaning and trimming Sweetie. She has begun to answer to that name and it fits her. She went into labor at about 10:00 AM today and had her two puppies by about 10:45. She is caring for them well and appears to be in good shape herself.
Both puppies look like Maltese which is a blessing. We were apprehensive that Sweetie might have been impregnated by a pit-bull. Pit bull puppies, even pit bull mixed mixed breeds, are hard to place. It is a piece of cake to place cute Maltese puppies.
Anyway, Sweetie is resting from her labor in a sparkling clean puppy pen with her two puppies nursing contentedly. Pictures will follow soon.

I'm so sorry about the loss of Felix. It's great that you can help this rescue dog while also helping yourselves through your loss.

Our cat was named Felix. Not an unusual name for a cat but, he was a very unusual cat.

I am so sorry for the loss of your cat. What was his name? You are very special people to foster a pup during this difficult time. God bless you.
