I wanted to post a blog to check in....but more so to also encourage other DK members who live in the tri-state area to also check in after Hurricane Sandy.  We live in Sayreville, NJ  (I'm not sure why my profile says otherwise...have to change that)  which is very close to Raritan Bay/ River.  While we are so fortunate, others in my area are not.  We sustained no damage and obviously have power and heat back on.  As we are all getting power back and watching the news for the first time in days, it is terrifying to see what has happened to our state and I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around this whole situation...people looting homes, literally fighting over gas at the few stations that are open.....it's mayhem.   My husband and his family have a small house in LBI (Holgate section) and are praying that there is still a house there to return to.  I hope those of you in the area are okay......please check in!

P.S.  The doods made it through the storm beautifully....we were lucky to be able to let them out during the few times that the rain actually stopped....we were afraid that they would blow away though!! Those rain ponchos weren't too great, but we tried!

Whew--glad to hear from you--not everyone has checked in--yes, the storm was HORRIBLE--the jersey shore will never be the same and many CT coastal towns had houses float away that were there for 50+ years--thank goodness you are all safe.

So glad that you all weathered the storm so well! The doods look so cute in their hurricane gear!

Glad you made it through the storm unscathed.  I'm so sorry, though, to hear about the mayhem!!  I remember a time when natural disasters brought out the best in people - where people rose to the challenge of helping others and didn't see the disaster as an opportunity to "help themselves"!!!

The rain ponchos are too cute. I can picture them flying around the yard like a kite tho . Sorry, I have a warped sense of humor. Adrianne. It is a pain to loose food and electricity, and be held in with kids, dogs and a cat, so whine. That doesn't mean you don't feel for those who lost more.

Makes us grateful for what we didn't loose. I was whining about the cold and dark and all the groceries I threw out today. With the kids and smother doodle and a cat.moving back.home I have been stocking up. Today I had to throw out hundreds of dollars of.meats and opened foods. Yes I whined. Tonight for the first time I saw the news
Anderson specifically. The pictures are just incredible! I was ashamed of ny whining when I saw all the destroyed homes, beaches and businesses and those who lost their lives. I can't put into words how my is breaking.
I am thrilled you all are.okay!!,

Grateful to hear you are safe. I hope we hear from more members as electricity is turned back on.

It is such a tragedy.
