Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Well, I did it! Old Mill GD puppy deposit made.

Well, after waiting until the perfect time (house with fenced in yard, settled in place for a while) we are getting an Old Mill Doodle Goldendoodle! I pushed the purchase button tonight! The soul searching is over and now I need to prepare for our little bundle of puppy joy to come home.

There is so much information on here and I've been pouring over it. I'm going to head to the library tomorrow and see if I can find copies of Puppies for Dummies and the Art of raising a puppy. Any other suggestions or resources I should seek out? My puppy will be coming home either in late May or early June depending on the final litter choice.

I'm so nervous and excited at the same time! So much to do in such a little amount of time!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! Oh isn't that a terrific/scary/exciting feeling, to know you've set your mind, no turning back. A puppy is in the future! Best of luck to you! I bought Puppy Whisperer, and while it's an OK read, I felt like I could have saved a few dollars and just read Doodle Kisses instead. (We ought to make a collection of advice and publish it in a book...) I found answers to almost all my questions, some I had to ask myself, but others were already asked, but all of them so far have been answered. I particularly recommend the Puppy Madness group and the Food Group to start with, but all of the groups are amazing resources. Look around, have fun! And again, good luck and CONGRATULATIONS!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!! Isn't that a 2 sided excitment though. I remember when I put my deposit down. I did not have a dog in the house for OH, about 12 years. I was excited AND a little of "what did I just do" feeling. It was a little scary for me b/c my DH is not an animal lover and did not know I did that. Plus, all of the work involved in raising a puppy. It was all worth it though, I Love Lucy!!!!!!!

Congratulations, Leslie! We pick up our puppies (yes, 2!) on May 27th, so I understand how excited you are. Life is just not complete without a dog, and you will never regret it (well, except maybe at 2 a.m. :)) I haven't had a puppy in the house in many years, and I can't wait! I feel young again! Are you getting a boy or a girl? Do you have a named picked out yet?

How exciting! Congrats! I have Keep It Simple Series (KISS) on puppies. And The Loved Dog by Tamar Gellar. They are both good.

Congratulations!!! I know what you mean about being nervous and excited. We will be getting our baby in mid-June, you can see her picture on my page. I need to find that book about kids and puppies. I guess I will hit the books tomorrow, also. Congrats again! Betsy
