Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Well, it is day 8, I THINK, somehow in all of this, time has become a blur. The fur has continued to fly on a daily basis. DH walked into the house the other day and found a big chunk on the top of my head!! Don't ask me...

I have dubbed my grooming technique the Snip and Stuff method. I take a couple of snips and stuff a treat...snip and stuff... well you get it.

I am stopping at this point because we both are totally burned out and need a break. Plus I have developed "Groomers Back" All that remains is the face/ears, well, basically everything on the head except under the ears and the top. Her muzzle area is such a mess I wanted to take some time to come up with an attack plan. During her last grooming session, the groomer shaved her right up the bridge from nose to eyebrow line. It is all growing out now and seems to have a mind of its own. Also, the beard area is her MOST sensitive area and she bucks like a mule everytime I touch it. I can't imagine putting anything sharp down there! The next time you see her she may be tripping on it!

I see areas here and there that need evened out and cut down a bit and I will probably be running after her with the scissors for weeks to come. I already know that I didn't cut enough off. I wanted to get it to the length I like on her. Well, that would have been fine if it had only taken a day to do the entire cut. But not so good with an 8 day cut. In 2 weeks she will probably need another full body trim!! I don't even want to think about that!!

Below are some shots of the finished or unfinished (however you want to look at it) product. This is BEFORE the bath so I am still counting on the curls returning to hide some of the chunky look.

And so ends or nearly ends my first and possibly last attempt at scissor cutting. Maybe after a few days away from it the memory will fade or at my age the memory will fail and the entire thing will be forgotten!!LOL! Thanks to everyone for sharing your knowledge and encouragement! I have come away with a HUGE new respect for each of you who are doing your own grooming! OMG!!!

Oh, and one side note, I think she has become hooked on the Origen kibble (the "stufffing") now as she refused to eat her dinner last night or breakfast (home cooked) this morning. However, if I offer her Origen she wolfs it down. :(

I lost my boyish figure a couple of months ago. Mommy gives me a treat each time I put my rump on the floor, duh how hard is that?? At least you learned somthing cool like rollin' over. Maybe once I am feelin' better she will teach me, or maybe when I come visit you in your new crate;)) xoxo Bandit.

Oh Bandit Baby, it is so good to hear from you!! I wish you were here to rescue ME from my mom. I'm really worried about her! She's been stuffing me so FULL of treats that I am losing my girlish figure!! I never thought I would be complainin' about too many treats but geez! I couldn't even eat my dinner!! I tolerated her snipping on me for 8 days and look at me!!! My hair's all different lengths all over my body!!! Once we are in the ivy though you won't even be able to tell!! I'll have mom order that crate tomorrow-I don't know what sleepover is but it sounds like fun!!! Especially with YOU!!

Oh,T-baby just the site of you, good haircut or bad, makes me feel better. I am having real bad times but I am sleepin and dreamin of frolickin' in the ivy with you. Tell your mama to not drink too much wine before she starts with the clippers because we wouldn't want you bald like our rescue friend Gladwyn. My mommy takes me to the barber to get my haircut and mustache groomed. I wouldn't trust her with a pair of scissors within an inch of our lives. But your mommy obviously has more skill:) You are lookin mighty fine. AND you need to get a bigger crate so we can have sleepovers:)

Thanks everyone! I like the wine idea AND the clipper idea. It sounds like a GOOD combination!! I might give THAT a try next time!!! :) I"ll have to change the name from Snip and Stuff to Sip and Buzz.
