Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Well, it is day 8, I THINK, somehow in all of this, time has become a blur. The fur has continued to fly on a daily basis. DH walked into the house the other day and found a big chunk on the top of my head!! Don't ask me...
I have dubbed my grooming technique the Snip and Stuff method. I take a couple of snips and stuff a treat...snip and stuff... well you get it.
I am stopping at this point because we both are totally burned out and need a break. Plus I have developed "Groomers Back" All that remains is the face/ears, well, basically everything on the head except under the ears and the top. Her muzzle area is such a mess I wanted to take some time to come up with an attack plan. During her last grooming session, the groomer shaved her right up the bridge from nose to eyebrow line. It is all growing out now and seems to have a mind of its own. Also, the beard area is her MOST sensitive area and she bucks like a mule everytime I touch it. I can't imagine putting anything sharp down there! The next time you see her she may be tripping on it!
I see areas here and there that need evened out and cut down a bit and I will probably be running after her with the scissors for weeks to come. I already know that I didn't cut enough off. I wanted to get it to the length I like on her. Well, that would have been fine if it had only taken a day to do the entire cut. But not so good with an 8 day cut. In 2 weeks she will probably need another full body trim!! I don't even want to think about that!!
Below are some shots of the finished or unfinished (however you want to look at it) product. This is BEFORE the bath so I am still counting on the curls returning to hide some of the chunky look.
And so ends or nearly ends my first and possibly last attempt at scissor cutting. Maybe after a few days away from it the memory will fade or at my age the memory will fail and the entire thing will be forgotten!!LOL! Thanks to everyone for sharing your knowledge and encouragement! I have come away with a HUGE new respect for each of you who are doing your own grooming! OMG!!!
Oh, and one side note, I think she has become hooked on the Origen kibble (the "stufffing") now as she refused to eat her dinner last night or breakfast (home cooked) this morning. However, if I offer her Origen she wolfs it down. :(
