At first we thought we would do invisible fence .... That was a wasted $1200
Then we decided regular fencing would be safer ..... I'm embarrassed to say how much that was .....
Then we figured out that about 6-8 months of the year the yard was entirely too wet for them to get to play outside anyway. After this Spring and our so many inches of rain above the normal rainfall that I completely lost count, mowing mud instead of grass, and months of the girls sitting and looking out the window, we embark on the next installment of the million dollar playground ......... installing drainage ditches and a sump pump well to get the water out! Let's hope this works. I also hope these doodles are still around to take care of me when I'm old because my nursing home fund is dwindling!
A Dry Yard for Happy Doodles ........ well, when we get there it will be PRICELESS!

I had to check to see where you lived because it sounded like where I live (in NW Oregon). We already had a fence, but with it so wet out there most months, its unusable. We live on a slope so I doubt add'l drainage would help (there's already a french drain on one side of the house where we normally take Lucy in the dry months for her potty spot). What we're tossing around is the idea of artificial turf back there. Nice artificial turf, like the kind that looks like real lawn grass. I haven't priced it out yet, and it may very well be budget buster for this year. We'll just have to see... I agree, what we won't do for our doodles!
