At first we thought we would do invisible fence .... That was a wasted $1200

Then we decided regular fencing would be safer ..... I'm embarrassed to say how much that was .....

Then we figured out that about 6-8 months of the year the yard was entirely too wet for them to get to play outside anyway.  After this Spring and our so many inches of rain above the normal rainfall that I completely lost count, mowing mud instead of grass, and months of the girls sitting and looking out the window, we embark on the next installment of the million dollar playground ......... installing drainage ditches and a sump pump well to get the water out!  Let's hope this works.  I also hope these doodles are still around to take care of me when I'm old because my nursing home fund is dwindling!

A Dry Yard for Happy Doodles ........ well, when we get there it will be PRICELESS!

I agree - dogs will NEVER be outside without us being at home. We have coyotes and little T. would not be safe (probably not Peri either).

Jealous you have the fence...our yard just doesn't work well for one plus it would cost me over $10,000 and sorry, that's not happening!

Been there--thousands upon thousands of dollars to regrade my yard, put rock swales in, lay sod, install a cedar fence.  Will never move.  Oh, and still have really ugly grass!

Good call.  I never thought about things coming in the yard.  Totally understand now.

My problem wasn't really with the invisible fence, (although I never had a comfort level with it) but rather with not being able to keep other dogs and kids out.  We had a new family move in next door with 3 kids (and a weiner dog) under 4 years old and I was completely afraid that they would come over and the girls would jump on them and one of them might get hurt.  The two little girls come running to the fence every time the Doodles are outside so I can just imagine if we had not put up the fence.   I had never seen loose dogs in our neighborhood before putting in the invisible fence, but one day I was in the back yard with the girls and saw 3 big dogs (off leash) coming down the street with no one with them.   Fortunately when I called L&S that day to come inside they did or I don't know what I would have done.   Many in our neighborhood have e fence and their dogs are outside all the time unsupervised.  I never had that level of comfort with it myself, but I think in the right circumstances it would work fine.

My cousin has two doodles and her sister has one.  They both have these fences and have no problems.

The Invisible Fence didn't work? What was the issue....weird, my brother has 2 Goldens and they love their invisible fence...no issues.

Jane, apparently your association wouldn't give in, too bad :o(.

Oh doodle poo - I have the invisible fence brochure setting right here - I was going to call for an appointment / consultation today.  Did it not work?  Doodles ran through it or was it a training issue?  YOU GOTTA SPILL YOUR GUTS before I plunk down the money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
