Where Oh Where Has My Little Dog Gone, Oh Where Oh Where Can He Be

It would appear as if Jack Daniels has abandoned me. Yes, ever since my mom came, AKA Jack's Grammie, my little guy is missing in action.

If I sit very still every once in a while I can catch a glimpse of him chasing my mom, being a velcro dog, not leaving her side for a minute. Rolling over on his back every chance he gets so she can rub his belly.

I call my baby, I offer him treats, he wants nothing to do with me, unless I am eating something he really wants, then he will leave my mom's side for a minute to see if I will give him some and then it is right back to my mom. He sleeps with her, gets up with her, and  plays with her.

I miss my dog, I sing songs to him but I don't exist to him when his Grammie is here.

I do know he still is in the house because after my mom plays with him all day, treats him and sneaks him stuff I don't want to have, he has to poop every night about 3 am. That is when he graces me with his sweet presence by pouncing on me and licking me ear. I get up out of my bed, let him out to potty and it is right back to Grammie he goes.

One night, I tried to keep him in my room, I shut the door and he sat at the door for a very long time looking at me wagging his tail...

My mom said it is because every time I hold him I am always poking at him, checking his teeth, looking in his ears and brushing him... and she just rubs his belly and plays with him.

Does your dood do this? It would appear that Jack prefers anyone to me when someone else is here? Once they are gone he will "settle" for me!!

What is up with my dood???? I say this tongue and cheek but I seriously wonder why he is doing this???

I am not concerned really, I know he loves me. I just wish I understood the behavior or reasoning behind it. I know when I stayed with my friend that had three doodles, he slept in their room every night, he didn't want me for anything then either!!!

I am his forever mommy, even if he doesn't like it !!! Just kidding.. He loves me.. he loves me, I know he loves me.

I will get him back sometime soon.

Jennifer, I wouldn't worry about it too much, your mom is just his new favorite toy.

Thanks Guys.. I was gone all day and he was home with my mom, I thought for sure he would want to be with me, He greeted me very excitedly, I put down all my stuff to go play with him, I got a toy out and threw it, he ran after it and grabbed it and ran straight pass me right to my mom !!!

He's just giving you a break, anyone in our house is more exciting than us-especially when the visitors don't follow house rules of course they are going where the goods are. Grammie must be pretty special!!

which reminds me....last night when DH came home Daisy and I were laying on the bed and DH bent over to give me a kiss hello - Daisy reached up and almost - not quite kissed Daddy, like touched his mouth with her's, no tongue - DH got so excited, "did you see that?", "yes I did honey", "can you believe she almost kissed me", I told him in Daisy's world that was definitely not an almost kiss but actually was, he was grinning from ear to ear. Remember my post about Daisy - she never kisses anyone but her daycare worker and our daughter, and is stingy with those.

Daisy spends her entire day with Mommy, when Daddy is home I am tossed salad. It's fine with me, he loves her, she loves him...that is when I get me time.

You should see my dogs when we go to my parents' house!  Both T. and Peri trot around, following mom everywhere. If she goes to the bathroom, they follow, strutting their stuff, wagging their tails.  Peri and T. spent the night with them while we moved, so they were there a good 36 house.  Mom told me Peri didn't leave her side and followed her to the bedroom, bathroom, outside, anywhere.  It is so funny.  When I am there, Peri sits at mom's feet and T. is in her lap.

I would say he's a brat! LOLOLOL (goes with the other trainer convo) But Neely does this with Brian sometimes. It bugs me too. I am also the one who has to do the poking and prodding or it wouldn't get done. He did the same thing with the kids. I would go to wiggle a tooth or clean their ears and he's say don't let your mother do that! If there was something to pick or pop I'm the one who had to do it. Needles, hospital visits all the bad stuff! Now he does it with Neely!

But when it comes down to it he spends more time with me and is more intuned with my needs and snuggles. Dad is the fun one that can play harder with him.

Grandparents tend to be the fun ones too. I plan on being the fun one to mine ;) . Although Our sons Great Dane will be living with us during the summer so I can't spoil her everyday. They have already read me the riot act about following their rules or else! They almost packed her up on me when she came home during March Break!!!

It's all normal behaviour. Just be happy that you even get the privilege of taking him out. It shows he knows who he can count on when it counts!
