Who owes me money?

I love my dogs, I love my dogs, I love my dogs. I really do, but today I need to remind myself!

I have worn glasses since I was 9. I am BLIND without them. They are the first thing I put on in the morning and the last thing I take off at night. They go on the shelf right above my bed. Early this morning my mom called and said she was dropping off muffins (YUM!) and could I meet her at the fence? I got up, put my slippers on and left my glasses. I was thinking I'd be right back and was going to lay down for a few more minutes until it was time to get the kids up, which is exactly what I did. When I got up a bit later my glasses weren't where they always are. UGH! I know the dogs didn't take them while I was in bed, so it must have been when I went to get the muffins. I checked the bathroom thinking maybe I left them there the night before. Then, I checked the family room. Maybe I took them off when I was falling asleep watching Brothers and Sisters? Nope, not there... So, I got the kids up and had them help. (Remember I'm pretty much blind, so me looking for them is useless.) About 15 minutes into the search Alyssa found this in the front yard.

Aparently the dogs thought it was time for me to get new glasses. It has been two years. I considered driving myself to the eye Dr., but realized that it's illegal and besides, I CAN'T see! So, I called my dad and asked him to take me. When I arrived I was reminded by an employee that the LAST time I got new glasses the dogs had eaten them. She then condescendingly asked me if I kept them in a safe place. I was going to explain but then realized, what business is it of hers?? Besides, how does she remember that?! It was two years ago! I hardly remembered it! (I try not to hold grudges.)

When all was said and done, WITH insurance, I paid $317. Not exactly cheap but I had to get them today! Now the question is, which dog owes me the money? If Rose still lived here she would have been blamed. (Sorry Rose!) But since she is North Carolina I can hardly charge her...

Kennedy (Rose's mom) is my #1 suspect. She is the one that ate the glasses two years ago. She is typically very good now so I'd be kind of surprised....but then again, she does have a record.

Lizzy is suspect #2. She is very sweet and loving and perfect in almost every way, BUT she does sleep on the bed with me, so that means she was in the bed at the time the glasses disappeared.

Suspect # 3 - Rosaleena is very sweet as well, but DOES like to steal things and take them out the doggie door. She typically sleeps under the bed, so was in the vicinity at the time the glasses disappeared.

Gracie and Chloe are the only ones that have an alibi. They slept with Alyssa last night and her door was closed. Besides they are the least likely to steal and destroy...

I'm not sure who to be mad at...So I guess I need to get over it. I'll just add it to the ever growing list of things I've had to replace over the years. *Sigh*

That was so funny!!! You are a good sport to make something that could very well have been very upsetting - very humorous. I hate to say it but "Suspect #3" looks a bit too cute - it's always the one you least expect! LOL

Aha! Just like Murder on the Midnight Express by agatha Christie. Only this was The Glasses on the Nightstand.Clearly All five dogs conspired in the stealing and destruction of the glasses. One of them even let Gracie and Chloe out and then shut them back in again so that you would never suspect. Do you think your mother could have been in on it too? Perhaps it was she who thought you needed to visit the eyedoctor and set the whole thing up with the "Cliberdoodle Gang". It is sort of suspicious that your father was available to take you to the eye doctor on such short notice.

I, too, have replaced $400 presciption glasses and numerous pairs of Costco $20 reading specs. I only have two doodles, though, and they also work as partners, so I know who to blame. The prescription glasses fell off of my head only to be instantly grabbed by Tigger, who passed off to Roo, who handed back to Tigger. By the time I got my cookie bribes it was far too late. Love your "line up".

Carole- Please tell sweet Rose that I apologize and that I love her! I was so wrong to accuse her. Before she left, she trained Rosaleena how to run her "shop." Perhaps Rosaleena was opening up an optical department. :o)

Jane- That is hysterical!!! And SO true! I'll let you know if any "evidence" is found.

Donna- I had two muffins so that would be $158.50 each. Yes, expensive muffins indeed! Maybe I should be blaming my mom! After all it's HER muffins that set it all in motion....

Sometimes short of DNA, which I think would be expensive, you never know. I just found tissue shreds and dryer lint all over the bedroom floor and gave up without even investigating or saying a word--well, maybe one or two words. Not worth it.

My husband keeps saying "what are you laughing at??" and I have to read him the comments. So I went over to sit beside him to show him the pictures and Marlow came up to look too.......Marlow said that Lizzy and Rosaleena are two cute chicks and it must be Kennedy who is number one suspect...lol!

I'm thinking the REAL evidence is yet to present itself. If the lens is the only thing that was discovered, there's plenty more evidence that will be "forthcoming". The answer is in the "poop". Rosaleena has the same look as one of my daughters. So sweet and innocent, but check out the eyes...she knows how to get what she wants! I'm betting that she's the one.
