So Im on my day off, and Im going through my morning routine- make coffee, turn on TV, check emails, go on Doodlekisses, check the list of adoptable dogs.....

Thats when I decided to log onto the DRC website and check the Canada Listings, and I fell in LOVEEE...

PFICLuna1

This beautiful Baby is in Montreal, QC. I am in Regina, Saskatchewan. I google mapped it... thats 1 day 10 hrs away- or 3,044km. I of course immediately emailed the organization asking if they even consider out of province, I got a automatic response that basically said we get hundreds of emails a day so yours will probably fall through the cracks.

Ugh! I have always wanted to have 2 dogs at once. I have gone through all the costs and situations that would arise with having 2 instead of 1 in my head, I think it would be tons of work and much more commitment (as I have read from other members) but that does not deter me.  My work schedule is perfect, as I only work 5 week days a month, so I am home all the time.  I have almost convinced DH.. haha.  The only thing that deters this whole situation is the distance!

Can someone please deter me from the thought of stealing this beautiful little girl!?!?!?! I have already bookmarked her page, refreshed it 800x hoping they will put up more pictures and information, and sat here for 1hr30 debating whether or not I should send pleading emails! lol.

Why oh why did I do this to myself!??

Sherri, thanks so much for posting this! I havve seen the updated profile, but unfortunately I have given up hope. I have not gotten a single response, and have gotten a little miffed from it! Im not too worried about the beautiful girl, I know she will find the right home, and I dont want to get all worked up about it and know that they will not give her to me :(:(.

I see your close tho! She does sound absolutely perfect, and oh so chubby! You should give her a shot ;) lol

Chelsea, have you seen the updated profile for Luna? (yes I still check out petfinder even though I'm not really looking). I think she sounds like the most amazing dog ever. I almost want to apply. Here it is:

Luna

PFICLuna1

Status: Available for adoption!

Age: Adult
Sex: Female
Size: Large
Color: Red Merle

Approximate Breed: Australian Shepherd / Standard Poodle
Approximate D.O.B: March, 2007

Current Weight: 80lb (10-20lb overweight)
Date Rescued: July 28th, 2011
Adoption Number: CA1123

Reason Rescued: Luna is an interesting mix of Standard Poodle and Australian Shepherd, she holds strong characteristics of both breeds but needs regular grooming as she has a poodle coat. She is a more energetic dog, like an Australian Shepherd and would do well in an active household where she is exercised regularly. She is fantastic with children of all ages, even if they are hanging off her ears and pulling her tail, she tolerates it very well while the parents teach their children respect for sentient beings. She is very respectful of cats, and just ignores them, she is currently fostered with 3. She is great with other dogs, and is currently fostered with a rowdy young male puppy who keeps her active and can be a little pushy about wanting to play. She plays very well with him, and tells him off very politely when he is being not so polite with her. She would make an excellent family dog, or an excellent addition to any household.

She can be reactive to other dogs on leash, but will settle once she meets them nose-to-nose she does need leash training and would do well with basic training. Until she learns to respect the collar and leash, and handler behind both, she is being walked with a Halti and is doing well. Ideally a home with dog experience, or first time owners who are willing to go to training to teach themselves about how handle dogs and then teach Luna a few things along the way. She would also excel in advanced training as she is one smart pup with a hell of a will to learn!

Luna is up-to-date with routine shots, microchipped, treated for worms and fleas, crate trained, house trained and spayed.

Hi Chelsea and Bailey,

I adopted my wonderful doodle, Finnegan, from the DRC.  Your post caught my eye because the DRC was started in NJ and they are a wonderful rescue organization.  I went to their website and found Luna's post - she is NOT a DRC doodle.  She is not listed under "Our Adoptable Doodles" which are the 15 doodles on the DRC's front page.  She is listed under "Doodles in Need" which are just cross-postings of other petfinder postings from organizations all across North America.  I have no idea which organization has Luna but it is not the DRC.  I just thought I'd let you know.  Good luck!!!

No update :(... I sent all the emails I could to the all the addresses they had up. I found a ph # and it wasnt working when I called it.  So maybe it really does take a week or more for them to read things- however that to me does not seem like a very effective strategy.

I looked through the website for an address and couldn't find one. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and will be happy to help if you need it (I've been meaning to take a day trip to montreal to do some shopping so would easily be able to check in on her if it's possible). They only thing is I would caution you not to get your hopes up too much (probably too late but anyway), because you don't really have any details. She looks happy in the pic, but what if it turns out she's not good with other dogs, or children or something like that. You won't know if she's right for you and your family until you find out more about her. I hope she's just perfect though, she looks perfect that's for sure!

Yess, I knew I would not get deterred too much on this site! haha... I might turn into a crazy lady. I sent ONE more email, just to be sure, and I got another automatic response saying it may take a week to read the email! A whole WEEK! That is way too long, im already nervous as im sitting here as I know the odds are not in my favor! Plus the only thing I know about her so far is that she is 4 years old, almost 5 haha.. oh boy.
