We had Cocoa groomed today and we think that Maureen, of Ye Olde Poodle Parlor in San Marcos, CA, did a great job; especially considering the terrible coat condition in which Cocoa arrived. Cocoa was necessarily clipped short, including her ears because she was so full of mats and tangles.
Maureen told us that Cocoa was one of the nicest and most cooperative dogs she has ever groomed. Of course, we know just how nice this darling girl is.
Maureen was able to save some of Cocoa's doodle beard which will, along with the rest of her coat grow out nicely...
I have loved this girl from the moment I met her but, honestly had trouble looking past her ratty coat to see the diamond in the rough beneath all those mats..
She is a lovely girl now but, we think she will bloom into quite a beauty with some TLC...

She really does seem to have a wonderful temperament.
Cocoa is a wonderful girl... She was chewing a Bully Stick that I had noticed was too short. I always worry about a big dog swallowing a short length of Bully Stick and choking on it.
Cocoa didn't want to give it up so I opened her mouth and stuck my fingers between her teeth and pried the stick out. I would have confidence doing that with Holly but, Holly and I have been part of each others lives for over five years. Cocoa and I have only known each other for about a month now. But, there was no problem. I got the stick away from her and gave her another treat to replace it.
so sweet!
So cute!
What a great shot! They are precious together.
I have been wanting to get this shot of Cocoa for a long time. She and little Jacob a three-pound Maltese rescue really like each other. The problem is that when I move, Cocoa moves. Well I put my camera on my desk and turned around to see Cocoa and Jacob sharing a dog bed on the office floor. I was able to get one shot and when Cocoa saw me looking at her, she got up and came over to me...
It's so nice when a foster gets along well with the home dogs!
