I start chemo today for leukemia. I am blessed with a great family and wonderful friends that have all rallied around me. However, I really wish I could bring Achilles with me. He would not be a problem. Ok so he might want to great everyone there (who doesn't want a big doodle kiss?) He hardly ever barks and basically would be glued to my side. So what's the prob. They should make a place where you could go with your pets if they were a great comfort. Maybe we could collectively make that happen. Well at least I get to snuggle when I get home.

So sorry, Anna.  I can surely understand your wish for Achilles to be with you.  These doods are such great smile-makers.  There have been some great suggestions already--know that my heart and prayers are with you.

Anna, we will be saying prayers for you!  I hope the chemo just kicks the leukemia's butt!!!

I am glad you get to cuddle with Achilles when you are at home.  These dogs are the best kind of therapy in my opinion.  Keep us posted on your treatments and if you need to vent, just do it on DK!

Hey, Anna!  I'm a cancer survivor too and have had to endure chemo, radiation, etc. UGH!  I hurt for you and will start praying for strenghth as you start your treatments.  I continue to go to MD Anderson for check-ups, and each time, I tell my DH that they should have allow "therapy" dogs -- the patient's OWN dog!!  I did not have a doodle when I was being treated, but I know having one then would have helped me through some of my "down" times!  I think having Achilles by your side would be a great form of  comfort! Too bad the hospitals just don't understand that!  No matter what, Achilles will be a great recovery-drug for when you get home!  Take care and I'll start praying now!

I hope your treatments go smoothly and wish you the best. I am surprised to hear some dogs are allowed at all. I would think the worry about infection with patients whose immunity is low might prevent that. But it never does hurt to ask. Where are you going for treatments? We could perhaps some human company if your friends and family are not always available : )

Sophie and I visit the area at our local hospital where the patients go for their chemo.  They absolutely (patients and staff) love Sophie visiting.  I would at least ask the question (particularly if someone is going with you that could help hold him).  Sorry to hear about your leukemia.  Hope that your treatments go will and all returns to normal very soon!  Sophie and I would definitely come see you if we were closer.

Anna, I am so sorry to hear that you have to start chemo today. What a nice idea about bringing Achilles along to be your chemo buddy. I went with a very good friend to her chemo treatment and we were behind the doors cutting up and giggling. I am sure the waiting room wondered what was so funny, but the laughing helped both of us. Take care of yourself and snuggle tight when you get home to Achilles.
