Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Yesterday while we were out and about enjoying the beautiful fall day, we decided to take a walk downtown to grab a little lunch. Just as we were parking the car we spotted this beauty prancing down the sidewalk.
I instantly broke Commandment #10.
Not that we were stalking them but we found just happened to run into them outside a sandwich shop where we were both headed. After exchanging doodle stories and doing the mutual admiration thing, I volunteered to watch Sonny while his dad went inside to get lunch. Now his dad was a trusting sort and happily left Sonny with me while he went inside. In fact, he even suggested that I take him for a little walk while we were waiting. That's how I found myself at the end of his leash and it was at this point in time that temptation snuck in. He had no idea who I was so the next part would have been easy.
Temptation struck in the form of an overwhelming urge to keep walking and not look back. DH was no help as I am pretty sure he would have kept walking right along with me.
I started having a little fantasy that maybe his owner wanted me to take him for a walk so he could run in the other direction. :>)
I don't think I would have been the least bit upset if his dad had flown the coop. Sonny was more than happy to go with me and I don't think he once looked back to see where his dad was. I think he could have come home with me and not missed a beat. There would be one little problem, the city where we live is small so we would need a disguise whenever we ventured outside. I do have to say that a part of me was a little disappointed when I saw Sonny's dad emerge from the sandwich shop.
Sonny is a 7 mos old mini doodle, who is not so mini but was totally adorable. They had gotten a doodle because his wife has allergies and needed a non shedding dog. After I broke the news that not all doodles are not non-shedding, I wished him all the best and slipped him DH's business card, you know just in case. :>) I'm not holding out much hope as Sonny had a nice curly coat and at this point doesn't shed. Then there's the fact that the children in the family would be beyond devastated and he was obviously a much loved puppy. Luckily, cooler heads prevailed and that laid waste to the old adage "when opportunity knocks, answer it". Sometimes you just have to pretend you didn't hear the knock at all. It's probably just as well because I don't think I'm cut out for a life of crime and I just wouldn't do well looking over my shoulder for the next fifteen years.
I don't know if Quincy shared my feelings but he didn't seem to be jealous of the strange doodle walking with his mom, although he did get somewhat overshadowed by amount of attention the adorable puppy received. :>)

Aw, Sonny is gorgeous! I would have been tempted too. :-)
OMD what a darling pup. I would have wanted to keep walking too. Between he and Quincy, you must have attracted lots of attention - not one, but two adorable doodles!
LOL, Donna. I would have had the same fantasy if I stumbled across a gorgeous red doodle. Banjo, watch out!!!
oh what a cute story and a gorgeous red head doodle. I don't think there's a day that goes by that I don't meet another dog that I could just scoop up and whisk away. :) Temptations are everywhere!
@Nancy, it would have been so easy. The guy was entirely too trusting but that's the kind of place we live or maybe I just had an honest face. Little did he know what I was thinking. :>)
@Carol, I blame it all on Banjo, you know I've been coveting him for a long time. :>)
@Joanne, Thanks, if I ever need a wheelman I'll know who to call. LOL, that look from the dog does look a little familiar.
@Laurie, Thank you! :>) Thanks for reading I know you must be busy practicing your Mexican hat dance.
That dog looks a little too much like Georgia. You guys are scaring me.
Cute story.
This blog was just what I needed today :) Thank you!! I think you should have run with him and never looked back and then DENY, DENY, DENY!
I say break the commandments and repent later. Next time call me and I'll do the dirty deed for you. I've been known to be rather naughty if there is a good cause.
Seriously though, though shall not lie. We know you broke that one when you said you did NOT STALK this dog!
