Our Murphy has always slept in our bed, but since the get-go he made his place at the foot of the bed and will not come up by us or stay up by the pillows no matter how many times I move him up to me. He's so soft and cuddly and I like petting him as I fall asleep. Anyone else's doodle just refuse to sleep near them?
Okay everyone, don't laugh. Gracie and I went to bed early and my husband snuck in with a camera and took these pictures. In one of them it is sort of hard to figure out who is who because we have the same color hair and curls!!!!! Don't they say that owners end up looking just like their dogs?? lol Eat your hearts out...this is total snuggling with your Doodle!!!!
Love it, Nancie. I think the two of you are twins.

Teddy will start in our bed each night and then hops down to one of his two beds in our room - or sometimes the bathroom floor. We think he may get too hot up there with us. On weekends when we sleep in a bit he will end up back up in bed in the morning. Then when we are gone from the house he tends to lay around in our bed. Basically - whatever he wants to do! May not be the best idea for many folks - but it works for us!
That seems to be the general opinion. Mine hops up and down all night too. I love the posts where her doodle spoons with her. My daughter 70 pd doodle does also and it;s just adorable. I think they get hot easily too or else WHY wouldn't they want to sleep right near us? They are like little shadows the rest of the day!!!
I think some dogs are "hot dogs". Our goldendoodle is a hot dog and it is just too warm for him to be on the bed at night. He usually sleeps on the cold tiles in the bathroom. But, in the morning, he is up on the bed for scratches while we have our coffee. Our labradoodle will crawl (quietly) into bed to keep warm in the middle of the night. But when he has warmed up, he moves to the bottom of the bed and keeps our feet warm. I guess this is lucky for us as each of the dogs is about 100 pounds and take a lot of room on the bed. During the day, if we are going out and tell them that they are going to stay, they are immediately in the bedroom and on the bed. I guess they think that is the best comfort spot (to be with us) even when we are away.
Our bed during the day is Gracie Doodle's favorite place to be. It is a high bed and window height. I pull up the blinds on one of the windows and she has a clear view of the entire street all the way down the hill. She can watch every car that comes up the hill and also has an eye on her best friends house (Sable and Genie). She sees when they come outside and then comes and gets me. She sees the owner drive in the driveway after work and knows that we are going down to meet up for some play time. We have a King size bed and she uses every square inch of it during the day. She moves around and curls up, stretches out, flips on her back and has on occasion rolled right off the bed!!! No crate in our house. Our bed IS her crate!! tee hee
Fudge starts in bed with me while I watch TV, but when my husband comes to bed, she stays for a little while longer and then wants down. She gets very hot and seems to prefer the wood floor over her dog bed. The funny thing is she has not figured out how to jump on or off the bed and stands at the edge until someone lifts her down. Our beds are very high, so that might be a factor. She has no problem getting on the couch :) She is not a big cuddler, but rather lays up against my legs or on my feet.
I bet if there was a rug by your bed she would be able to jump down. Two of my dogs have problems getting off th bed that is directly on wood. I think it has to do with their depth perception or they're unsure of the slick floor.
Rowdy sleeps in bed with us. He loves to cuddle at night but not during the day. Usually he sleeps on my husband's pillow behind his head. We went out of town a few weekends ago and my mom dog sat for us. She wasn't too happy when he tried to sleep that way with her!
Funny that no men responded. That being said Jack has slept with us in the bed since he was about 6 months. When we go to bed at 10 he tries to take the spot where I normally sleep. I then have to push him aside since he's 100 lbs. and takes up most of the bed. Jack normally likes to sleep diagonally across the bed. Sometimes he will lay his head across my shins. My Catalan sheepdog starts at the foot on my side. Our schnauzer will only sleep up by my pillow, but he has to be on the outside edge of the bed by the door. Needless to say I feel like a contortionist when I crawl into bed.
