Ok doodlers.  Now I ask you, seriously.  Didn't you have to buy a bunch of stuff for your doodle before the big arrival date--just like for a new baby?  My DH took one look in the dining room where I display the "layette" and he about stroked out.  With the indispensable help of you DKers recommending products it has been non stop UPS around here.  But what is a mother to do???  Doesn't everyone have a Spot Bot, Bullysticks (he was totally disgusted w/ this one), Cowboy Magic detangler, Les Pooches brushes, combs, diaper bag and stroller (for trip to Maine), everlasting treat chews, crates, gates, and doggie bed????????  Nothing from our former labs is going to fit a mini ALD, is it?  And I could never afford the really good stuff when our kids were little.  How do I butter him up?  Maybe I should have hidden it all better at least until the little bundle of joy got here, huh?  I won't even mention all "his" ski items I just folded from his last trip hehe.

You will still be buying long after her arrival home, just like with human babies! I have just learned to stash things here and there so the volume is not so obvious. Oh, and hope that the names on the credit card charges don't appear too much like pet-related businesses ;o)
Absolutely, stash, stash, stash. I used to be able to keep things in the trunk of my car, but now with the SUV it's a little more difficult. It's so much harder with the dog things than with my clothes. Many years ago, DH got burned by asking me if my outfit was new. When I got upset and told him he had seen it many times (and he clearly wasn't noticing), that was the cure. He never asked again. But, the dog stuff is different. That strategy just doesn't work with the dog toys.
I LOVE that!!! Man, you know how to work the crowd. Stash, DeeDee, stash. I get it.
I agree with Diane..... STASH IT!!! LOL Every time I go buy dog food, I come home with something.. still trying to find that perfect toy, so until it's found... think I'll try them all! LOL
Enjoy it! Like childhood, puppyhood goes by too quickly. Oh wait! Did I just say that?! Oh yeah - I remember now.... Puppyhood - maybe not so much fun! Just kidding - Enjoy your new little puppy! A mom's gotta' do what a mom's gotta' do...
I agree, stash the stuff or at least some of it. Eventually it all comes out and my DH can't believe how many toys are all over the house. I am trying so hard not to buy anything for awhile. Sounds like you have what we all seem to have....O.D.D. (obsessive doodle disorder)
Ok, I've got the picture. Put alot of it away and then sneak the rest of the stuff in. :) At least I know I'm not alone. You girls rock!!
just wait till that little bundle of joy arrives ...... he'll be out buying also! They are just too irrestible! DH leaves the house every morning and says "Daddy's going to make puppy treat money"! And we girls wave bye!
Now that cracks me up. I can totally get a visual of that scene. Guys like to feel needed, right?
Oh my!! I can't feature my serious DH doing that!! He'll have to pretend always that he doesn['t like her too much-although she'll get anything from him, too. He says to peope "in my next life I want to come back as DeeDee dog" or "what do I have to do to get treated like the dog around here". I suggested he sleep w/ his nose im my shoe!!
Don't forget about co-ordinating collars and leads in at least three different colours depending on your mood, the occasion and of course what you are wearing! Wait till the big arrival and friends start stopping by with "baby gifts." (I knew all of those baby showers I attended for others, would eventually pay off ;)
Absolutely, the bully sticks are THE most valuable item!
hopefully you bought the odor free bully sticks or he might get even more upset when you use those .... they can really stink.
