Are Aussiedoodles suppose to have thier tails docked?  The breeder docked my aussiedoodle Bella's tail.  I don't see many of them with docked tails.

Thanks Mindi

Thank you for responding. I would never dock a pups tail either. And I didn't think Aussiedoodles have docked tails. I am not sure why the breeder did that. Wish they wouldn't do that at all. Thanks again.
Hi Mindi, Bella is beautiful! When I was looking for a doodle, I couldn't decide between a aussiedoodle and a golden doodle. I ended up with a goldendoodle and a labradoodle. But, I still love, love, love aussiedoodles!

I have never met a aussiedoodle in person but I'm not in favor of tail docking, for any breed. Have you looked here on DK to see if there are any other docked tails on aussiedoodles or breeders of the aussiedoodle? I think it would be interesting to check it out. Maybe I'll look a little later! My labradoodle Duke has a docked tail. When I saw his picture on the internet I fell in love with him. All the pictures of him were from the front and I was surprised when I went to get him that he didn't have a tail! I had never heard of docking a labradoodle tail. I'll bet if I look I would find very few if any labradoodles with docked tails.

Here are the breeders pictures of Duke...wouldn't you have thought he had a tail?? :))

Duke Is so beautiful. I was looking for a labradoodle when I found Bella. She was so adorable that I couldn't resist. Her picture too did not reveal a docked tail & the breeder didn't tell me she had a docked tail. I will check out here on DK with breeders. I haven't seen an aussiedoodle with a docked tail though. I've been looking. Here is a pic of Bella . She doesn't even look like that. The bottom pic had a choc nose and dapple color. the top one has a black nose and merle in color???

I think it was just poor photo quality that makes it look like it could have been 2 different dogs. She is so adorable!!!!
Thank you. I was praying she is the same dog. It doesn't matter now anyway. I am in luv with her and wouldn't give her up for anything. Unconditional love. It's the best gift of all.
I agree Mindi!!
I'm pretty sure Sara and McDuff's "Duff" in this group has a docked tail. When I told a friend that I was getting an aussiedoodle she asked if his tail was docked, I guess because of the aussie heritage. It hadn't even occurred to me that some breeders might dock a doodle's tail but I was relieved to find out that Nancy doesn't do that to her babies :o)!! Thank you Nancy!! But, Bella and all aussiedoodles are beautiful inside and out. Let's face it, they have no say in the matter.
Hugs from us to you too Nancy! =)
I know this is going to make me the bad guy, but I love that Duff doesn't have a tail. I believe it was docked, although I didn't get confirmation on whether he was born that way (I don't think he was born without it). It is so nice not getting whacked with it and knocking stuff off the table, AND he looks adorable with his little wiggle. I do, of course hate the idea of hurting him, and I wouldn't choose to do it myself, but I love him the way he is.
Of course you're not the bad guy Sara! You're a doodle Mom who loves her pup and appreciates the charm and practicality of him being tailless (Is that a word?).
I don't think that makes you the "bad guy" at all. I luv my Bella her bob tail and all , too. so I know how you feel. I would have never known from her pics and breeder didn't tell me. I was shocked to NOT see a tail. Duff is beautiful just the way he is . I luv all aussiedoodles. and doodles in general. I think they are beautiful and the best breed around. You go doodle mom!!!
I love Duke's look too without his tail! Sometimes if Sheba is standing beside Duke it looks like he has a tail only a different color. He would look so much different with a tail!!!
