Help sought.....I had a breeder reneg on a deal. Details not necessary and it worked out for the best as the entire transaction had not sat well with me.  In any event, she stated she was putting the returned deposit in the mail to me a week ago.  My original deposit was in the form of a bank check and a refunded check in the amount of the $350 has still not been received.

Any advice would be most appreciated.

Thank you,

Susan

Thanks, Jerry.

I think we've all hit upon a very sensitive topic and one that requires respect yet tactful honesty in approaching. As one involved in the health care industry, I've frequenly been involved in the forefront of some very "hot" issues (I previously worked in assisted reproductive technology and now work for an insurance company....health care reform, anyone??!) but the point is I've learned there's a fine line to balance in remaining open to all sides. As with all such discussions, it frequently takes the first to establish some guidelines in order for a healthy, balanced dialog to ensue.

Personally, I find the section on breeders to be most helpful and I hope that portion continues. I understand the time and effort involved in administering a site such as this one and am confident a happy medium can emerge which provides for respectful communication on even the most senstive of topics.

The legality of the contracts/agreements most of us have signed or submitted appears murky at best but I'll leave that to professionals to handle. As with any interaction, I'm a firm believer in incorporating the "human factor" of interactions. I'd be curious to hear how some situations have been resolved that have resulted in the buyer having to back out, for whatever reason. BUT...I think I'd rather shelve such a thread until the dust settles from this current discussion.

It's spring and time for new beginnings. May we all do so!

Best,
Susan
I understand completely Jerry..how passionate we can get when it comes to our doodles and puppies..Thank you for owning up and your sincere apology on line to everyone! Susan,,glad you got your refund and looking forward to hearing all about your new doodle experiences in the future. Now ALL doodlekiss members need to let go and be mature and move on. Enough of this negativity which I dont like to read and I'm sure Im not the only one. There's been alot on here lately...lighten up and enjoy this website and think before you type...does it sound too critical?? Enjoy your doods!!! : )
Well said. It was getting a little uncomfortable.
OK then, now that we all seem to have "Gotten over it and moved on", I am happy you recieved your refund. Now that's behind you. I know how much you are looking forward going to your son's graduation and then recieving your puppy. Timing is everything in some situations.

So when is the expected date of arrival? SHould we start counting the days? And being an incurable Choca-holic, I am sure I am going to just love him too.
Dear "Surphy",

From one who had hoped there was such a thing as "Clear Blue Easy" to confirm a dog's pregnancy, and as one former L&D nurse to another, I wish there were also routine prenatal exams to assess antepartum dilation, but barring fetal monitoring I have to go by breeder's instinct to say the week ahead will likely be the one to whelp. She did tell me that she waits a few days before announcing to be certain of the health of all of the litter.

Projected homecoming has always been end of May/early June which fits right into dh's window of opportunity I had to abide by when making my selection as he understandably wanted someone to be available 24/7 for pup's needs and that someone role has obidiently and cheerfully been accepted by #3 son who will be home upon college graduation for a few months before beginning his financial analyst job in late August.

I hope I do as good a job dog-rearing as I had child-rearing :-) Although in the case of the dog, my own financial analyst acumen seems to indicate the outlay of funds is higher on the starting out dog basis, whereas after funding 4 years of USC, the financial burden came at the - dare I say tail - end!

A Delighted Late in Life Mom-to-be,
Susan
My final message on this subject: my wife always tells me that things happen for a reason (in fact, that was what I told Susan in one of our private messages to one another) - for two weeks we were devistated after learning that our contract had been cancelled - but then we went to a local breeder in Paso Robles (Elizabeth Ferris - Country Labradoodles) and fell in love with the cutest little puppy who had just arrived from Scotlland - Elizabeth had sent a female to a breeder there and Little Brit (whom we named Bailey) was the pick of the litter and had just arrived from overseas. Bailey jumped up onto my wife's lap and that was all she wrote. Bailey is now six months old and pretty much runs our household (and can't imagine our lives without him). So the moral of the story: rainy days and Mondays always turn into Tuesdays and sunshine!

Susan, good luck! I know you'll find that special puppy.

Jerry
Bailey is ADOREABLE!!! Ment to be : )
Handled with genuine grace, sincere dignity and humble aplomb. Thank you.

Wishing a doodlishious day to all and secure in knowing my doodledays will come,
Susan
