Did you ever forget your doodle was a "dog" and talk to him/her as if you were speaking to a person?  Instead of saying 'wait'  as we used in training, I'll say "hold on a minute".  Instead of saying "break", I'll say 'go ahead and eat'.... Sometimes when it's just the two of us, I talk to Tori as if I was speaking one of my kids.  I'll tell you, I don't know what's happening to me I definitely have to put on my big girl 'boot-camp boots' and get back to basic training! ... I loved my dogs in the past, but this time around, I treat her like" one of m own"!

Just don't let your kids hear you treat your doodles as humans = you will never be allowed to lived it down; never mind that they do the same thing to their precious dogs! teehee
teehee... I can definitely see myself doing this even more if my boys were older, grown and on their own... talk to me (and Tori) in about 8-10 years!! (shh!)
The other day I brought Vern home from the groomer. He was so clean and fluffy looking and two minutes after we got home, Fudge and he started rolling in the dirt. I am standing there yelling "I just paid $30 for you to look nice, now stop." Like he understood one word I was saying, because they just kept rolling.
All the time...LOL.
Yes, I always do this. I ramble on and on to Darwin. You know how they say that dogs are really great listeners? Not really the case with Darwin. Once I start "venting" to him about something, he usually falls asleep. Typical guy! :-)
You have" no idea" how much I talk to Lilly. LOL
I talk to my dogs like I talk to the kids or other humans, I always have, and I swear they understand every word I say...Of course people say they only know by the tone of your voice, lol, but they do understand me, and I don't care what the experts say, lol...My husband talks to them the same way I do, always have with all our dogs over the years....
I talk to Shelby all the time :o) I don't think it's weird at all!
LOL I do it constantly!! I just know Hunter really understands me when she turns her head from side to sid! My husband just laughs at me - he calls her my human in a dog coat.
All the time, Achilles is a great listener. He never gives away any secrets either, lol
LOL... Thanks everyone! I knew I would find affirmation here! Sometimes my DH will tease me (& Tori) say something like.. "Don't be a dumb dog" (of course in a nice voice just to get her head to tilt) I always say, "don't say that to her" He says she has no idea what he is saying... I say she does!
I have bronchitis right now, but had to take Hershey out for a little exercise yesterday. She's on the retractable leash, and she'll just bounce around and sniff things, and run in circles around me. Then she saw a squirrel, and bolted, and nearly knocked me down. She's pulling and I"m coughing and wheezing and yelling: "Are you kidding me?!! YOU KNOW I'M SICK!"

Funny thing is, whenever I have my coughing episodes she immediately finds me in the house, and tries desperately to lick my face. :oP
