As per Adina's request.... here is a place for us to discuss our thoughts on the new front page.  I am still navigating and trying to see how I like it... I will say though - that I miss having the slide show up top!

What you said about sitting through 50+ photos is ONE big reason that I thought perhaps it wasn't the best way to do things. And since the slide show always starts with the SAME set of photos...it may as well be ONE great photo that is changed regularly.

Just out of curiosity, how is the featured photo chosen?

This time I chose a photo I thought was high quality and fun out of the Black Doodles Show.

I too like the slide show... sometimes I don't have time to watch at the speed of the slide show, but then I just click on the fast forward button that pops up under the screen. I do like it on the front page. When I see a particular photo I want to look at more or see who's doodle it is, I like to click on it to go to their page and "comment" or friend someone I never would have found before. I think it allows for a way to "find" more doodle friends. It's hard to find the time to browse through or search members sometimes...What may be your favorite 'featured' photo, may not be to everyone else??? I LIKE the side pics of newest members! I don't get how the pictures from "Rose" got on the side, but what a cute doodle! I too am a creature of habit and change "bugs" me a bit! LOL. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Petfinder pics listed at the bottom. NICE JOB! And SOOOO much work, Adina! Thank you!!! (How do you find the time?!)

Could the best photo and video be side by side? I really liked the slide show up front b/c I would see different pictures as I procrastinated my way around the site. Having the ads be the regular size and the discussions on the left be tiny isn't so good for my three-way "progressive" lenses that I wear. I agree with someone else's comment about the birthdays, tho' I know Adina isn't sure that can be changed.

The ads size...do you mean font or something else? The discussions listed on the front page are just a glimpse of what the rest of the site holds. To see ALL discussions you'd need to go to the Forum section. I will look into slightly bigger sizes for things. But video and photo side by side would make each really small and defeat the goal of having something really nice prominently displayed.

Yes, I do mean the font. The font on the left side is way smaller now. If the video and photo were thumbnails, like someone has suggested, then you could click on them to see them full size.

I also used the fast forward option for the slide show so I could see the doodles. I like that feature.

Font is important for many of us and it is too small on the left.

Ok, I'm gonna be the fuddy duddy here ..... I'm a creature of habit, not that I can't embrace change, and I don't mind making things better, but my furniture pretty much stays where I put it until I move or buy new furniture! (Although I have moved like 35 times in my 51 years! When I logged in this morning it was sort of like going into Macy's and finding that they have moved all the departments around (AGAIN). My comments though would be pretty much like the others, 1 pic vs. slide show (no preference) although I rarely click through the whole slide show. Comment boxes are large (which you know). Video takes up a lot of space. One thing I feel like I miss is in the "latest activity section". Possibly I just don't know how to do it, but I'd like to be able to view all the activity since I last looked! I feel like I miss a lot of things because if someone sends out 15 comments to different people it bumps everything off. Is it possible that the birthday thing could be a box that the names scroll through rather than take up so much space. You could maybe click on them when they are up if you wanted to send someone a message! All in all, it is just a matter of getting used to it!
