A friend got a goldendoodle and I loved the way he looked and that he didn't shed. However, the size and strength of him scared me to death! (He is now over 90#) On a hunch I Googled miniature labradoodle and low and behold there were tons of breeders! One of the first one listed was in Maine - kismet, as we live in Maine. I immediately called, chatted with Patty for quite awhile, and decided to take the plunge. I now have two mini-Australian doodles (both from Patty) and couldn't be happier!
I thought it would be better because I have kids. Murphy turned out to be the perfect size:) My daughter just loves to lay on him, I think he likes it to:) The funny thing is he always rolls over so she can give him a belly rub.
Barb, I am the owner of Murphy's twin look alike named Molly. We got her from Doodleheaven (Jenny and Teddy's litter). She is one yr. old and looks exactly like Murphy. Is Murphy on the hyper side at all. Molly is a pistol but we're crazy about her.
I had a golden that I loved. When he passed, we wanted another dog. My principal has a mini goldendoodle and she loves her. She was adorable. We wanted to "downsize" this time.I"ve always loved goldens. So we went with a mini goldendoodle. And it was love at first sight!!
I picked a Mini becuse the size was right for movie work. I truly wanted something that was good for small home living . Casidy is 30 lbs and just right in my view .
I don't have a big yard right now, so I finally decided I wanted something a little smaller. I have a condo with a small yard, but we're only supposed to have dogs under 30 lbs. I had been e-mailing Christine at The Paw Pad for about a year talking about doodles. I didn't think I'd like a smaller one at first, but I eventually warmed up to the idea. I know that a mini poodle dad with a golden retriever mom could still have some pretty large puppies, but then the perfect mix came along for me. An 8 lb mini poodle dad, and a relatively small golden mom. I figured that with the smaller mom, I'd have a better chance of the puppy staying small. It's working out even better than I had hoped. Halas is small, but he has some big dog traits, so he's perfect for me. It's funny, but my neighbors love him so much, they probably wouldn't care now if he ended up to be 50 lbs.
Fenway picked us! I thought he was going to be bigger than he is....but I think he'll always be smaller than Shiloh (in size....but not in attitude, lol)
Jacquie....I will always credit YOU with Fenway being in our lives....and I really am sooooo glad to have him! Thank YOU!
My inlaws have a medium sized girl who weighs about 45 pounds. We love her and happened to find a breeder in the Nashville area that breeds minis. I thought this would be perfect because we currently live in a townhome located on a greenway/park. I can make sure she gets plenty of exercise, but she won't be a 60+ pound standard knocking things over! Peri comes home in 4 days and the suspense is killing me :) Oh and I have a 6.5 pound chihuahua that could be crushed by the standard size LOL.
Well, I chose to adopt based on temperament...... The breeder we chose only bred Mini's and Mediums. We where put with a medium size doodle, deposit and all on a future litter with the breeder we chose. During the wait, Brianna my little mini (who was 6 months old) chose us after talking with her breeder, and it was all temperament, then I realized how small she was, it is all good, she is a great size with my kids and for us big kids, lol...... Our second Duncan was the same...our breeder new the kind of guy we where looking for, I never asked his size, but from pictures and many discussions I gathered he was a large Mini.
