Ode to young love. I live in a NYC apartment with my amazing 4 month old standard size labradoodle "Paz" whose name is spanish for Peace. In any event, Paz has fallen in love with a 4 month old cocker spaniel that lives in the apartment directly across from ours. Paz is so smitten, that he taken to sleeping by the entrance door of our apartment, paws in the air and upside down, so he can hear when his girlfriend whose name is Izzy, comes and goes into "her" apartment. Izzy's owner and I have taken to calling them Romeo & Juliet! Young love is so grand.....I only hope she doesn't break his heart and fall in love with a yorkie or something. He will be crushed! I promise to get a picture of him sleeping upside down at the door, with his nose positioned right to the space underneath the door so he never is off guard so to speak. I've tried to reason with him that this may be the first of many loves he will experience, but he refuses to listen! What can I say, other than I admire his loyalty! What a guy!
Just to let you all know, Paz's girlfriend Izzy, is getting her first haircut today, replete with pink bows on her beautiful cocker spaniel ears. I haven't quite prepared Paz for her new look, but will try to convince him that her bows should probably remain on her ears, rather than be pulled off by him in their puppy play frenzy. No kidding, if you all can envision that we live in Battery Park City in Lower Manhattan ,(across from Ground Zero) which is along the Hudson and actually quite beautiful. We are an exceptionally dog and kid friendly area and we have beautiful dog parks that were developed and dedicated to the search and rescue dogs that worked down here at ground zero following the 911 attacks. A lot of the search and rescue training still takes place down here. We love our dogs and kids too! When Paz & Izzy spot each other from a distance, it could be like one of those ads where you see two people (in this case dogs) in love, running to meet each other after they've been separated for some reason. I promise to get a picture of the two of them together, because although Izzy weighs about 15lbs less than Paz, she definately is the boss. He just looks like a huge muppett lying at her feet, and she literally will drag him around by his ears, and jump all over him. I think he may have some perceptual issues, because I'm convinced he thinks that Izzy is much larger than he is. Every Halloween, we have a costume parade in Battery Park, for our dogs, so we've decided that Paz and Izzy will go as Romoe and Juliet...you can definately plan on some good pics from that event. I'm just hoping that Izzy is not fickle and doesn't fall in love with some fancy bichon or something like that and break Paz's heart. I don't think his little heart could bear the pain!
Awww, so sweet. Sonny is in love with my friend's doodle Ruby. He only has love for her. At the Doodle Romp he would roam around for a minute then run over to Ruby and follow her all over. and any time he is near her he has to be touching her. Puppy love! You have to post of picture of him sleeping against the door. Too cute!
