I need some suggestions on how to make Sheba look more girly.  EVERYONE calls her a boy.  Is it because of her color and the fact that she has a beard (which I adore)?   : )  lol

I thought I'd start with a new collar and tag.   I find it hard to find a collar that looks good with her coat color. Also, it needs to be sturdy as she is a VERY active dog.  Any suggestions on what color collar would look good on her but make her look more feminine?  I'm stumped.

Here is what she is wearing now.  I bought it at REI which sells camping and sporting goods. I found that it snags easily and doesn't hold up too well.  (Not the greatest photo of the collar, sorry!)  The collar does look kinda boyish, I guess.

Here are a couple photos that show her coat color.  Oh, and speaking of her coat color, does anyone want to make a suggestion on what color she is?  Sable?  Merle? Brindle?

I still don't know!

And of course her winter look....

Thanks for the suggestions!!

LOL
I would also like to add that I totally relate to this situation. People often get Darwin confused for a girl. Basically, light colored + fluffy = girl in most people's books. His is usually long enough that it hides his collar too. AND, when they ask what his name is, and I tell them Darwin, people tend to mis-hear it as Darlin' (shudder). Oh well!
this is one of my favorite collars. You choose your own fabric. She makes a great product - a stay at home Mom.
I just emailed her - I checked the site and I didn't see anything about her embroidering. I have 2 collars for Samantha - both have her name and my cell # embroidered on it.

another stay at home Mom - didn't purchase her product but did see them in person. For $15.00 (includes shipping) she will make a chain martingale with a buckle. She makes a great collar.
If you don't like her fabrics or you have something special, you can mail her fabric and she will use that.

If you are looking for a non-jungling tag ask me. I have a vendor account with boomerangtags.com
you get 5 lines of engraving. The same exact price as their site with all the money going to rescue.
Thanks for the info Adrianne! I took a quick look at both sites and they have some beautiful collars. The first site you listed is really close to where I live. In fact I spent a lot of time in Beavercreek. Small world.
Do you have a picture of the tag you are talking about or can you direct me to where I can see a picture of it??
Well I've had the privileged of meeting Sheba many times. She is pretty and dainty and oh those beautiful EYES.
It's true, whatever her color is really named and whatever gender mix-ups there are she is a beauty.
I love the girly girl pretty princess looks!! I also think pink will look really pretty on Sheba's color. How about something like this? She would look like a princess!!!

Very, very girly! I like it! This would be a great collar for her to wear while visiting my mom.
I'd say she is closest to Mearle, and a pink collar would look OK, even though I'm not a fan of pink. I think people mistake her as a boy because of her moustache. Have you ever tried her without it? Obviously Sheba isn't a girlie girl, and having her coat long makes her look boyish. Penny is a tomboy too, we keep her coat short as she suffers with the heat so much, plus she is a debris magnet, but with her very long well-trimmed legs she looks like a girl.

From previous experience, the majority of people refer to a dog as "he" when they don't know, my previous two dogs, a Bearded Collie and a Border Collie were both girls, and we would always be asked "What breed is he?", or "What's his name?"
Take a look at www.lupinepet.com "Pink Blossom" It is hot pink with purple vine/flowers. Would look great with her coat and Lupine guarantees their collars and leashes for life. I also love Bella Bean collars, Bellabeancouture.com. She would look great in the Bee Jeweled, color rhubarb or Garden Primrose in Mulberry. They are a bit pricey and no guarantee but they sure are cute. I have gotten several for Murphy on sale. Can't wait to get Murphy a sister so I can buy the girly collars! I think Sheba is just beautiful. I don't think she looks like a boy at all. Can't wait to see her new collar. She will be beautiful in whatever you pick out!
They have some beautiful patterns! And their collars look really nice, it's hard to find martingales in such an array of colors & patterns!
Karen, check out www.3dirtydawgz.com They have great patterns and colors and every collar can be customized as a martingale. They don't make collars small enough to fit my Murphy though :(

My DH says I have a collar buying sickness (yes, Murphy has a few collars)...so just in case anyone wants to know I also love walkeewoo.com; isabellacane.com; gwengear.com and mimigreen.com and I bought the cutest custon ID tags for The Murph on etsy.com, the sellers I like are Urban Puppy,Siriussilver and Happy Chihuahua. Okay, now that I'm looking at it in black and white....maybe he is right! Love to spoil my Murph:)
