Irresponsible dog owners

I am so mad right now. Took my family, Sonny, husband and 2 daughters to the dog park today. Thought it would be a nice day for Sonny to get out and play with some other dogs and go for a nice swim in the lake. Not within 2 minutes of getting to the dog park poor Sonny was jumped on visciously by 3 other dogs. 1 owner made his dog sit, not leave but at least he pulled his dog away. I got Sonny away when again, the other 2 dogs jumped on him. Then they were on top of him trying to bite each other. So needlees to say the owners did nothing and we left. (my husband had my daughters away form the chaos)

Sonny had a great time at the lake and hiking through the woods but of course as we are leaving on the path, one of the owners with their dog was bringing their dog to the lake. As I made sure my daughters were all the way to the side away from that dog they had the nerve to say to me oh that wasn't our dog biting. Long story short, of course and aurgument happened and I went and reported them. Hoepefully the park poilce followed through before that dog went after another dog. Really, I don't get it. If your dog has aggression issues IT DOES NOT BELONG AT AT A DOG PARK!!!!!!! Okay, I feel better!

Ut OH!!! Glad you feel better. You're a GOOD doodle mommy... I won't even take Tori to the dog park... you know me... too many 'germy' things to worry about like ticks, poison ivy, bacteria in the lake (I don't even know if Tori could swim), forget what her hair would come out looking like (you know I like it kept longer). Good thing dogs can't chat on DK, or your 'secret' would be out! lol - I guess what she doesn't know about, can't be missed! Besides... I'd never make it there with out a pooping accident in the car! So NOT worth it to me ...LOL SORRY about the irresponsible owners.... hope Sonny had fun tho'!

Irresponsible dog owners is the number 1 reason why I don't take Gunner to the dog park! It drives me insane. Make your dog mind & clean up after it or get out of the park, now I feel better too!

Have to say I don't know why I keep going back. Except I know he loves the lake. I should just skip the park part. People don't pick up after their dogs and then you have to watch where you and your dog play and the nasty dogs and owners just ruin it for others. It's just common sense and good manners!

I agree with you 1000%! I am sick and tired of owners bringing their aggressive dogs to the park, then acting surprised when their dog attacks dog after dog... they obviously know! Why on earth do people do this???

I haven't seen him once since I posted the discussion. Perhaps someone finally complained. If I do see him again, I'm going to get his plate number and talk to the office. I'll keep everyone updated if he returns. For now, I'm just relieved to avoid the confrontation!

Oh, and no change on the horrible Jack Russell. But I think I may print of a list of tips and tape it on their door. :-)

Good idea RE the Jack Russell - then they know people are finding him a nuisance, AND they have tips on how to deal with the issues!
