shedding!!!!!!

My two year old Australian Multigen has started shedding BIG TIME!!!!!!  I gave him a really good brush about a week and a half ago and I now have hair everywhere.  I am really hoping that it is just hair that I brushed that is coming out slowly......  is that possible???

Any advice would be great

If she didn't shed previously, and just started, she is likely going through the coat change. It is possible the shedding will stop or decrease once she has gone through the change. I have heard of dogs that started going through their coat changes anywhere from 8 months old, to 2 years old.

My personal experience:

Darwin never shed a hair until he was about 9 months old. Then he started shedding pretty badly and his hair matted much more easily. This lasted until just about a month ago, and the shedding and matting have all but disappeared. I had to brush him every single night for about 45 minutes or so. Now I just brush him a few times a week, and he is fine. He hardly sheds AT ALL anymore.

If you haven't joined the grooming group... I would definitely recommend it. There are lots of previous discussions on coat changes and shedding.

Thank you!!!!! He has matted up all of a sudden over the last couple of weeks (hence the initial huge brush I was doing). I am sending him to the groomers for his big cut soon but it is still pretty cool here (I am in Australia) so I'm tryinhg to hold off a little longer...... I will def check out the grooming group. My 2 year old multigen Australian just had a total coat change and I did notice some shedding before that, but its hot here, so she has been cut short for a few months. Her coat went from soft and wavy white hair to a mix of the white soft hair and coarse red and white hairs. I like the coarser hairs mixed in because her coat is easier to maintain now. The hairs don't mat as much, but she is less soft. I didn't realize that her coat could change this late in the game--so it could be the same thing you are seeing.
