Does anyone have any experience with pet insurance? We see it advertised but don't know if it is really worth it.

Hey Kim --Try a search for "Pet Insurance". We have had several discussions on this in the past. There are a couple different ones that seem to come out on top depending on exactly what you want it to cover.
Hi Kim, I am looking into it too, I have it narrowed down to 3, I will send you and email and let you know..My goal is to call each tomorrow, but that was my goal to do on Friday and haven't done it yet:)
Definitely check out the threads....there's some great info posted. Let me add that I have PetPlan and recently submitted a claim. I was absolutely delighted with the service. It has already paid for itself. I never had Pet insurance with my other dogs, but I'm glad I have it for my Doodles.
I researched and researched before settling on a pet insurance for Chewie. I narrowed it down to a few, but I found that all the companies do things differently, pay differently, have different deductibles and/or copays, and in general, it was like comparing apples to oranges. So, I just went with my best intuition and chose VPI. I have only had the insurance since the end of April and fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it), it has already paid for itself...at least for this year. They have paid the claims quickly and exactly according to how the policy stated they would be paid. I am very satisfied at this point.
Here is another link that has good comparitive information

I am leaning towards either PetPlan or Healthy Paws.
We went with PetPlan to cover emergencies. Two months after finally buying it, Whopper ate a brillo pad resulting in surgery costs of over $1800. PetPlan quickly covered all but our $200 deductible so we have gotten way more than our money's worth already.
I just enrolled in PetPlan. Very easy and the customer service was great. So fingers crossed we won't need it anytime soon but will be curious if/when we do how it goes.
We also just sighned up for Pet Plan. I have been researching for several months since we added Spencer to our family. Having 2 pups now seemed like a good reason to buy some insurance. Pet Plan seemed to fit us best. It has great coverage and you can customize to fit your budget. We haven't sent in a claim yet, but seems from some of the other replys it should be fairly simple and have a good response.
